Job DescriptionBackgroundEthiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is an exciting and dynamic autonomous federal government institute having its own legal personality as the main government body in charge of three main tasks as expressed in the regulation number 301/2013.
The institute is mandated to conduct researches and technology transfer in public health issue; provide referral service for diagnostic and analytical tests; support the capacity building of health and food science laboratories at the national level for quality laboratory services; leads the public health emergency management of the country; and conduct researches in traditional medicine.
The Public Health Emergency Management (PHEM) division focuses on disease outbreaks, nutritional emergencies, and health consequences of natural and manmade disasters.
PHEM mainly emphasizes on early and timely detection, risk communication and control of epidemics and other public health threats, reduction in morbidity, mortality as well as case fatality rate of epidemic diseases to cope with existing, emerging and re-emerging epidemics, natural disasters of national and international concerns.

Major duties & responsibilities Design ICT related infrastructures such as data and telephone network systems and services as needed
Follow up the installation and implementation of ICT systems
Monitor the ICT systems and act on vulnerabilities to ensure that systems are secure from virus threats and security risks
Monitor ICT systems, assess technology changes and recommend upgrades in order to support the continuous improvement of IT services.
Continually monitor and maintain efficient communication services
Provide in service technical support and maintenance on all IT related equipment and services
Provide support on software use by project staff and ensure that any necessary changes or required patches are applied
efficiently. ·
Assess, implement and prepare disaster recovery plan that enables restoration of all systems
Develop standard operating procedures and best practices including providing written protocols and guidance to end-users. ·
Ensure all office equipment are maintained regularly
Supply appropriate specification and evaluate vendor offers when requested by the procurement unit
Conduct field site visits and supportive supervision as needed
Respond to a variety of queries about information technology and systems in order to assist the staff to deliver their services.
Facilitate and provide IT training to the staff for effective utilization of systems and new products
Participate in definition, designing, testing and implementation of new IT systems based on the requirements
Actively participate in technical working group, task forces and handle designated tasks as needed
Explore potentials of IT platforms for innovative approaches in addressing programmatic challenges in public health emergency responses activities
Perform other duties as required
Job Requirements
Qualifications: BSc in Computer Engineering, IT and computer Science
Experience:0 year
Required Number: Four (4)
Technical and other skills
Skills in Data collection tools like ODK, DHIS-2, Redcap and other health information systems and knowledge of statistical applications is preferable
Ability to design and implement network infrastructures
Broad knowledge of IT including hardware and related applications,
Excellent network management, troubleshooting and server management skills
Professional certifications on networking, maintenance is preferred
Experience and professional certification in Database administration like Humane resource management is preferable
Willing to work in a flexible environment, good communication skill (oral and in writing)
