PurposeThe main purpose of the R programmer position is to provide support to researchers, data archiving and analysis teams and the projects thorough database management, data quality management, computational support, data extraction and formatting, and providing inputs for papers and presentations.
Roles and Responsibilities
Write commands of statistical computing and R- programming languages to manipulate, analyze, and visualize health data for input-process-output possibilities of multivariate analyses
As used in MSc. Data science apply fundamental principles of writing scripts or syntax and write codes to produce figures, tables and high quality visualization graphics
Create single and multilevel statistical models and apply different statistical procedures in data analysis
Develop algorisms to validate data quality, extract and treat data for use of different sets and sources of public health data
Read data into R, perform various calculations, manage outputs and obtain summary statistics.
Catalogue, transform and format datasets for ongoing analyses.
Develop and maintain databases, reports, and maps
Work closely with other team members in the Center to assist with research and other
relevant tasks
Job Requirements
Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer engineering, software engineering, computer sciences or other related field of study , OR
BSc. Degree in statistics, mathematics, computer engineering, software engineering, computer sciences or other related fields and 2 years’ Big Data Analytics experience.
Thesis work/participation in any other project involving Big Data Analytics, analysis of health data or data processing and visualizing work.
Desired Skills and Experiences
Understanding and experiences working in health data, public health research and Global Burden of Disease
Basic and advanced level intellectual skills of programming in R statistical software
Ability to manage data analysis requests from researchers and other collaborators
Ability to work with health data using the R-programming language
Skills in computer programming and familiarity with SQL, mySQL, Oracle
Demonstrated self-motivation, ability to absorb detailed information, flexibility, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic, highly creative environment.
Robust problem-solving skills, along with a strong familiarity with data warehousing, data mining and data mapping
