Job DescriptionThe Specimen reception and processing unit is one of the most important elements of the analytical process and needs to be properly organized moreover, precisely following the correct procedures in the sample reception and processing stage will guarantee the trace-ability of the sample and assure the quality of results so, EPHI’s thriving COVID 19 laboratory practice needs an experienced receptionist who can take over the specimen management duties
Duties & responsibilities
Job Overview/Purpose
The purpose of COVID 19 Laboratory Receptionist is to receipt, evaluate, track and process specimens that have been delivered to the reception and distribute to the respective testing laboratories.
Key duties and responsibilities
Receives patient specimens and verifies patient information using separate identifiers per laboratory protocol.
ensure all specimens arrived in the reception meet the acceptance criteria
ensure all rejected specimens are tracked and communicated for recollection
Processes laboratory test order specimens before distributing to the testing laboratories.
Provide reports as requested by the respective management
Ensure safety,
and stock levels within the reception area
Work in a safe manner with due care and attention to the safety of self and others
Report any adverse incidents or near misses
Maintain and manage records in the reception
complete other clerical duties as assigned
Promote continuous quality improvement in practice and help to generate innovative ideas within the Reception
Works in collaboration with all receptionist and other members of the laboratory
respond and comply to requests for information

able to collect, organize and monitor data efficiently
able to communicate effectively in all activities involved
Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
able to multitask, prioritize and schedule tasks and activities
attention to detail - able to produce accurate and high quality work through concern for all areas involved
able to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
Job Requirements
Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology
Three months COVID related experience and/or training
