  • Risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) is an essential component of health emergency readiness and response activities.

  • According to the joint directions of WHO, UNICEF and Red-cross "A clear and integrated Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) strategy and response are vital for individual, family, and community uptake of essential public health and biomedical interventions to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19” (WHO 2020; UNICEF 2020).

  • The availability of reliable information sources on evolving pandemics, such as COVID-19, may embody certain attributes that encourage compliance with recommended adaptive behavior.

  • Evidence suggests that lack of data or information generally drives unpreparedness to contain deadly diseases and discourages positive attributes for behavior change.

  • The health system and reproductive health research directorate & in collaboration with integrated Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) section, PHEM, wants to assess COVID-19 risk perceptions and individual behavioral response in Ethiopian.

  • It is community & facility based survey and will be undertaken on a representative sample of households across the country The Ethiopian Public Health Institute, therefore,
    would like to hire competent applicants for two months in the following positions

    Job Requirements

  • Msc/MPH in any health-related field

  • Qualitative data collection experience will be required;

  • Knowledge of the Ethiopian health care system;

  • Good interpersonal communication;

    Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct interviews

  • Must be able to complete questions using tape recorder at a reasonable speed

  • Contribute to developing and translating discussion topic guides

  • Transcribe/ translate qualitative data

  • Analyze qualitative data in a team

  • Collects data as per protocol, and asking questions as stated in the questionnaire;

  • Reports all best practices and challenges to the team supervisor;

  • Works under the supervision/guidance of the team supervisor and coordinator;

  • Must be of good health as the field work may demand extensive travel on rough roads; Must be able to organize the assignment and work independent of team leader;

  • Maintains good team spirit within the assigned team;

  • Must be able and willing to stay in the field and work in any part of the country.
