Senior Finance Officer

Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development (ECDD) is an Ethiopian Development NGO established in 2005 and has been re-registered and accorded legal personality with registry number 0321 on May 17/2019 as a local organization in accordance with the civil society organizations proclamation No. 1113/2019.

ECDD works collaboratively with other organizations to promote facilitate and build capacity for “disability-inclusive development” in Ethiopia for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in mainstream government service delivery and in non-government organizations development programs.

ECDD would like to recruit on Senior Finance Officer Position who fulfills the following requirements:

Description of Tasks:

Job Summary

The ECDD Senior Finance Officer reports to the ECDD Admin and Finance Manager and maintains ledgers and other books of accounts, prepares financial reports as required in conformity with ECDD’s Finance Policy, donor’s and Gov’t requirements, and ensures that all ECDD payments, taxes, and other financial obligations are timely met.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure that disbursements are made according to the rules and regulations specified in the ECDD Finance Manual.

Ensure that payment vouchers are correct and authentic.

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements needed to show the financial position and operational results of the office and projects.

Prepare the monthly bank reconciliation and submit to the Executive Director.

Prepare staff payroll and make sure that it is paid on time and that all required government taxes and social

security contributions are deducted and paid on time.

Check that collection are made and are deposited at the bank on time.

Prepare Check Payment Vouchers and checks.

Ensure that disbursements are not beyond the authority limits of the ECDD signatories.

Control stock and fixed assets and coordinate the inventory committee during the year-end.

Assist in the development of working procedures, schedules, formats, etc. for efficient financial operations.

Report periodically on the position of the projects’ Cash and budget.

Control expenditures/disbursements based on analysis of the financial position of ECDD.

Conduct physical cash count and reconcile with book records on uneven time.

Ensure that taxes and other government obligations are met on time.

Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Admin and Finance Manager.

Job Requirements

1. Education – BA degree in Accounting/Finance

2. Professional experience – a minimum of 5 years of experience in NGOs

3. Knowledge and practical application of Peachtree software and competence in the use of word and excel computer applications

4. Experience of working with persons with disabilities is a plus

5. Excellent interpersonal skills on relationships and teamwork
