The ITTS Manager role is highly collaborative and analytical. You will support our clients from a diverse range of industries and sectors in navigating a dynamic and complex global tax environment.
The Opportunity
As an ITTS Manager, you'll demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts and effectively apply your tax knowledge to client situations, developing and delivering innovative tax planning ideas with timely, responsive services and work products that meet and/or exceed client expectations.
You will conduct tax due diligence reviews, engage in structuring engagements, provide international corporate tax advisory services and thoroughly and accurately analyse information and prepare quality, practical and creative approaches tailored to a client's tax and economic situation, arriving at appropriate conclusions. Your remit will include managing the work of client service team members and participating in and contributing to attaining team goals.
Your Key Responsibilities
You’ll be heavily involved at all stages of the project life cycle, making this a high-profile opportunity to take on a wide range of responsibilities and diversify your skills and experience.
It’s all about translating information from a variety of sources into quantitative and qualitative analyses to inform and advise our clients. That will include building relationships with clients in a spectrum of industries and getting to know their unique needs and aspirations to provide tailored global services. It will also mean demonstrating your leadership by supervising multiple transfer pricing engagements and contributing to the delivery of quality tax planning services for our diverse clients.
Skills and attributes for success
Conducting tax due diligence reviews, including coordinating other specialist teams (e.g. VAT, Payroll, Customs, Transfer Pricing) and other jurisdictions.
Drafting tax structuring memoranda for acquisitions, disposals and reorganisations.
Providing advice to multinational organisations in regard to the income tax implications of their operations, transactions and corporate structures.
Providing advice on the application of domestic South African tax law and tax treaties, including both established law (thin capitalisation, controlled foreign companies) and recent developments (the multinational anti-avoidance law and BEPS initiatives).
Acting
as part of the tax team delivering an accrual review (if required).
Working effectively as a team member, sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, and updating senior team members on progress.
Assisting in preparing reports and schedules that will be delivered to clients and other parties.
Developing and maintaining productive working relationships with client personnel.
Building strong internal relationships with other members of the ITTS team and across other services sub-service lines and other EY Offices across the world.
Working towards deadlines and achieving set utilisation targets.
Building strong internal relationships within international tax teams locally and globally, as well as other service lines, especially Transfer Pricing
Managing budgets and WIP on behalf of the Partners.
Assisting with project management of transactions and projects.
Mentoring and supervising junior staff members.
To qualify for the role you must have
CA (SA), TA(SA) or admitted attorney.
Ability to communicate complex tax concepts succinctly and clearly to clients
Experience managing budgets, projects and people
Ability to develop relationships with clients and provide a high level of client service
Excellent interpersonal skills and time management capabilities
The ability to work at a fast-pace, often with shifting responsibilities.
Minimum of 5 years of related experience.
Ideally, you’ll also have
A consistent record of excellence in a professional services environment.
Preferable- experience in one of the Big 4.
