Job description EY Cova is looking for an engineer or scientist to join its team of engineers, scientists, accountants, lawyers and tax professionals in the Carbon and Energy team. EY Cova forms part of Ernst & Young Global Limited a multinational professional services network with headquarters in London, England. EY Cova is a specialised grants and tax incentives consultancy and a SANAS Accredited Measurement and Verification Body (EEMV0007), offering a focused and efficient value adding service to clients.
Key Responsibilities
The candidate’s day to day responsibilities will include:
Driving existing offerings relating to carbon, carbon management and climate change across Africa;
Completing carbon-related work for clients (i.e. carbon footprints, carbon verification, carbon reporting, science-based target setting, carbon reduction, carbon offsetting, carbon tax accounts and other carbon-related work);
Advising clients on decarbonisation strategies (including the identification of opportunities and impact that their investments may have on the carbon tax and other regulatory requirements from a greenhouse gas emissions point of view);
Developing and operationalising carbon offset projects;
Delivering on high quality carbon-related work on time;
Developing relationships with clients;
Developing new offerings relating to carbon, carbon management and climate change;
Driving the marketing strategy and attending meetings with the sales representative(s) to market and sell our carbon-related offerings to current and prospective clients.
Assistance on the implementation of SANAS-accreditation for greenhouse gas emissions, and once accredited, to ensure re-accreditation each year;
Ensuring application of the quality management system; and
Continually improving the quality management system.

Requirements
A university degree in engineering (or similar);
At least 5 years of experience in carbon, carbon management and climate change;
A technical background and an in-depth understanding of carbon management and offsets and climate change is required.
Technical experience in different industrial processes is preferred.
Experience in a consulting environment is preferred.
Experience across Africa would be an advantage.
Proficiency in other languages such as French or Portuguese would be an advantage.
Knowledge of management systems and experience in working with these systems (ISO 9000, ISO 17020, ISO 14064/5 etc.) will be advantageous.
