ERIKS Development Partner is a Swedish NGO that promotes Children’s rights and works with local and international Civil Society Organizations to make Children’s dreams come true. ERIKS promotes the rights of the child to education, health, protection, and survival in humanitarian situations.

We are now hiring a Temporary Maternity Cover for the Financial Monitoring Officer who sits in the Nairobi office. The five months cover will last between September 2023 to January 2024 inclusive. The successful candidate will work closely with a colleague in the Nairobi office and with the wider East Africa regional team.

The Job Purpose is regular financial monitoring of the interventions supported by ERIKS in terms of financial management to ensure that finances advanced to partner organisations fulfil the purpose for which they are advanced.

This will involve routine monitoring of funds’ utilisation and reporting of findings to the Regional Manager and /or the Head Office. In addition, the FMO will manage financial administration, bookkeeping, and reporting for the Kenya Satellite office.

Specific tasks and responsibilities

  • Support in elaboration of annual regional programme and office budget to be submitted to Head Office for approval.

  • Support in performing of organisational and project assessments.

  • Follow up and support partner organisations in the financial management of projects.

  • Review and give feedback on project budgets and regular financial reports.

  • Make regular visits to partner organisation’s offices and field visits to project sites.

  • Perform assessment of partner auditors, assist partners in elaborating terms of reference for project
    audits, review audit reports of the partners.

  • Elaborate capacity development plans and facilitate capacity development activities for partner organisations.

  • Follow up challenges and recommendations identified in organisational assessments, capacity development plans, reports, evaluations, and audits.

  • Ensure that internal requirements, requirements from back donors and auditors are communicated and understood and implemented by partner organisations.

  • Elaborate the annual budget for the regional office’s internal costs, elaborate periodic financial reports for the regional office.

  • Manage bookkeeping and administration at the country office in accordance with ERIKS’ Financial and Administrative Manual.

  • Participate in elaboration of applications to back donors and calls for proposal.

  • Participate in elaboration of new steering documents, templates, and instructions.

    Skills & Experience:

  • The right candidate will hold appropriate accounting /finance qualifications to degree level and professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CIMA, ACA, AAT, etc. Work experience within an NGO setting will be of added advantage.
