ERA ICT Officer Jobs in Kenya

The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) is a Statutory Body established in accordance with the Electricity Act, 1999, Chapter 145 of the Laws of Uganda.

The Act empowers ERA to regulate the Generation, Transmission, Sale, Export, Import and Distribution of Electrical Energy in Uganda.

The Authority seeks to recruit a competent and well-motivated person to fill the vacant position of ICT Officer. The position is contractual, running for an initial Five (5) year period and subject to renewal, upon satisfactory performance.

Responsibilities

To ensure that the Server Systems run at maximum performance and efficiency.

Ensure the security of the ICT System.
Carry out weekly ERA data and information back-up.

Plan for System Growth, allocate mass storage and optimize networking ability in order to share system resources in ERA.

Document and analyze the existing ERA Integrated Information Management System (IIMS) operation in order to perform troubleshooting of IT Systems on a demand basis.

Sensitize users on capabilities and use of current and future technology in ERA and advise ERA Management on the most appropriate technology in relation to the prescribed need.

Prepare specifications for all ICT related purchases, both software applications and hardware.

Provide estimates based on user needs and future system projects of annual ICT budgets for consideration in the overall ERA Annual budget paper.

Make presentations to ERA Management in respect to proposed systems solutions for approval.

Participate in drawing up contracts, co-ordination and supervision of all ERA ICT related service providers.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related fields such as ICT

from a recognized University.

Knowledge of MS Access/Excel/MS SQL Server and any of the econometric software such as Eviews, STATA, RATS, PCGIVE.

Three (3) years working experience in a similar job environment.

Post Graduate qualifications in Computer Science and ICT certifications would be an added advantage.

Should be knowledgeable about Uganda’s Electricity Supply Industry.

Should have excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills.

Should have the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks with little supervision.

Should be able to conduct an empirical research.

Should be 25 years of age but not more than 35 years.
