Job Description

Job Purpose

Farm Manager main objective is plantation of farms in term of kind of Crops and Quantity based on the seasons. Also oversee the entire business aspect and operation of the Farms, manages the different sections of the farm operation such as plantation, Crops, Irrigation, Research and Development, Workshop and General and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Plan finances and production of Crops, and maintain farm progress against budgeted and parameters as per EAG goals and targets.

Overlook and arrange maintenance and repair of farm buildings, machinery and equipment and obtain farm inventory.

Participate in technical aspect of the hiring and evaluating candidates of Farm Operation team along with Human resources Department.

Maintain and monitor quality of yield in arable crops.

Study and react based on implications of weather and prepare contingency plans.

Ensure products are ready for deadlines for auctions and markets.

Ensure farm activities comply with AEG policy and government regulations.

Monitor and manage animal health and welfare if any.

Monitor and record all yields and land use to meet EAG goals and objectives.

Protect environment and maintain biodiversity.

Direct and plan activities of farmers in term of plant, cultivating, and harvesting specialty crops, such as wheat, alfalfa, hay and other crops, and applying the knowledge of growth characteristics of individual crop, and soil, climate, and market conditions.

Maintain well the quality the crops production.

Implement techniques of plantation, cultivation, and irrigation and harvesting of crops.

Implement techniques of fertilization, herbicides, and pesticides as international standard method and environmental friendly.

Demonstrates and explains farm work techniques and safety regulations and SOP to Farm head Section.

Prepare budget in conjunction with yield of each field, to operate the farm for each cropping period.

Responsible in a different array of tasks which include leadership of people, organizational structuring, human relations, training, work planning, work simplification and methods for improvement.

To

develop performance standards as a measurement to increase quality and quantity of service to meet company expectations. And to monitor on a daily basis the performance of all units he is responsible for and to ensure they are operating within Divisional guidelines.

Monitor and assess the performance of his Workshop Foreman and Supervisors, and all staff providing guidance and support to ensure that they and their unit achieve their key performance level.

Coordinates with his Workshop Foreman and Supervisors on personnel leave/vacation and manpower allocation to ensure an adequate supply in the site at all times.

To keep the Engineering Manager and Regional Maintenance sectors informed at all times of relevant information regarding farm operation within his area of responsibility.

To assist in the yearly preparation and allocation of the capital budget with the Manager for the approval of Farming Managing Director (MD).

To ensure that all quality records of farm performance are maintained and be capable of analyzing and reporting conclusions drawn from these.

To carry out any other tasks or special projects as may be requested from him by the Farm.

Job Requirements

Education, Experience & Competencies

Education

Bachelor or Master Degree in agricultural studies.

Experience

At least 10 years professional experience as Farm Manager in agriculture field.

Competencies, Skills and Knowledge

Excellent knowledge of the Agriculture industry.

Knowledge in plants, vegetables, fruits and harvesting.

Ability to manage and run the Farm activities in all areas.

Ability to meet targeted production and growth projections.

Excellent knowledge in farm equipment’s and machinery.

Ability to resolve problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgment.

Computer literate in Microsoft Office package.

Ability to speak read and write English fluently.

Ability to operate farm machinery
