Job Description

  • Elevate Ethiopia Inc. is a new, small-scale international NGO whose mission is to empower children, youth and families through education, mentorship and economic empowerment programs so that they will become free of poverty and positive impactors in their family, community and country.

  • The organization’s office and operations will be located in Kotebe.

    Job Description

  • Supporting youth in their education will be a core focus of our organization.

  • It will be the Education Coordinator’s role to plan, manage and actively participate in all education activities, which include.

  • During the COVID pandemic, teaching children when it is not their shift at school.

  • After-school tutoring.

  • Summer Learning program.

  • Personal follow up with each school performance.

  • Experiential Learning (both at project site and field trips)

  • All students in Elevate Ethiopia’s program (to be 70 students total after 3 years) will attend government school. Our role is to support them in their education outside of their school, and help insure their success and ability to one day attend university.

  • At this time, a majority of students will likely be in primary school. However, there will also be some high school students that will also receive the same support, so the candidate needs to have the ability to plan for and assist
    all age groups in their education

  • We are seeking a candidate that not only has the proper qualifications, but is passionate about the organization’s mission and the student’s success.

    Responsibilities

  • Planning and administering all education activities.

  • Teaching and tutoring students.

  • Creating both individual and group teaching plans for students.

  • Following up with students’ performance.
  • This includes following their grades and communicating with the student’s school and teachers.

  • Managing and coordinating any other or education staff or volunteers.

  • Planning and administrating learning programs during the rainy season break.

  • Managing the organization’s library for students.

  • Administrating any distribution of education materials.

  • Consistently encouraging students in the importance of education and helping them build confidence in their abilities.

    Job Requirements

    Qualification

  • At least bachelor’s degree in an education related field.

  • 3 or more years-experience in education.

  • Fluent or highly proficient English, as well as the ability to teach English.

  • Computer skills, and the ability to teach students IT skills would be advantageous to the candidate.

  • Ability to create learning plans and curriculum.

  • Ability to understand and adapt to different students’ learning styles.

  • Hard working, positive and optimistic attitude.
