EGPAF is a consortium partner for USAID's funded Uganda Health Activity (UHA) which aims at helping to improve overall health system resilience and to increase the survival and well-being of vulnerable populations in USAID Uganda priority districts.

Closing Date: 1/8/2023How Will You Fight for an Aids-free Generation?The Local Capacity Development Specialist will provide technical suppose to the program team and will work closely with the program team as well as with local partners, Communities, and districts on the development and Implementation of capacity-building strategies, Interventions, and best practices.
No Two Days Are Alike at Egpaf, but What Can You Expect in This Role? Provide technical leadership and oversight for the capacity development strategy using a holistic, and collaborative framework and system.
Work with the Ministry of Health, Government of Uganda stakeholders, partners, NGOs, USAID, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of capacity-building-related program activities.
Conduct Capacity Development learning sessions and conduct regular field visits to provide technical support, capacity development, mentorship, or coaching to sub-awardees.
Ensure that the capacity-building activities are in line with the contractual targets, outputs, and outcomes and that the service is delivered on
time.
Contribute to capacity building on quality assurance/continuous quality improvement of project tools, methodologies, and approaches.
Document Capacity Development related best practices.
Provide leadership to the development and implementation of the project's overall capacity development strategy to bolster the capacity of regional referral hospitals, local implementing partners, and CBOs, while maintaining the performance and quality of interventions.
Lead the assessment and identification of organizational capacity gaps and in develop evidence-based approaches to address those gaps.
Provide strategic inputs into the overall capacity development component, recommending adaptations based on ongoing lessons learned.
Supervise long- and short-term staff engaged in local capacity development tasks for the activity.
Lead the integration of capacity development tools and approaches into program activities to ensure program goals and objectives are met.
Support regional referral hospitals, local implementing partners, and CBOs through in-person and remote mentoring, training, and
knowledge transfer around key organizational development areas.
Carry out any other duties reasonably assigned by the Supervisor.
To Be Successful, You Will Have:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, Public Administration, or related field.
At least 5 years of relevant experience strengthening the management capacity of the local organization.
Previous experience with USAID specifically in Uganda.
Critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills, including the ability to make independent decisions and take initiative.
Clear commitment and record of achievement to building the capacity of local partners and the community.
Required Competencies:
Training in computer applications is required plus a good working knowledge of computers with the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Excellent data analysis skills and ability to think concisely, and critically as well as distill information to lay audience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the capacity to prepare and deliver formal presentations on programs and results, and have good Trainer Skills.
Team player with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a diverse social and cultural environment.
