Job RoleThe school Security Head is responsible for overseeing the security and safety of students, staff, and facilities within a school.
Responsibilities
Developing and implementing security policies and procedures
Conducting security assessments and audits
Supervising and training security personnel
Monitoring and controlling access to the school premises
Responding to security incidents and emergencies
Coordinating with law enforcement agencies as needed
Conducting investigations and maintaining records of security incidents
Communicating security protocols and procedures to students, staff, and parents
Managing security equipment, such as CCTV cameras and alarms
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of security trends and best practices
Working with appropriate departments to meet operational security needs within budget;
Assisting in the development and implementation of security plans for special events.
Advises and assists site-based administrators in matters involving criminal activities on school campus.
Coordinating with site-based administrators, Maintenance and Facilities Departments to address and correct safety/security issues in the school.
Preparing memos, reports, drawings, etc. related to safety and traffic issues on school campus; presenting them to appropriate school directors.
Receiving all reports of school crime from site-based administrators and maintains statistics regarding this information.
Communicating with media on involving school safety.
Key Performance Indicators
The Key Performance Indicator for the Security Head include:
Reduction in security incidents, such as theft, vandalism, and violence.
Increased compliance with security policies and procedures by students, staff, and visitors.
Timely response to security incidents and emergencies.
Effective management of security personnel, including training and supervision.
Maintenance and functionality of security equipment, such as CCTV cameras and alarms.
Positive feedback from students, staff, and parents on
the overall safety and security of the school.
Compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to school security.
Consistent communication with key stakeholders, such as school administration and law enforcement agencies.
Efficient use of resources, such as budget and personnel, to achieve security objectives.
Continuous improvement in security practices through ongoing training and evaluation.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline
Minimum of 10 years in similar position
Security Training Programs or other comparable training programs
Tactical Response Training
Emergency Management Certification
Technology savvy
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent report writing skills.
