Job Description:

  • ECDNeK is seeking to recruit a Project Officer who will provide essential support to the network’s advocacy projects, in consultation with the Project Manager and other team members, to achieve project quality.

  • Roles will include administrative and technical in Early Child Development (ECD).

    Responsibilities

    The roles and responsibilities of the Project Officer Advocacy woll include:

  • Organize project meetings: The Project Officer will regularly organize project meetings with ECD stakeholders, partners, donors and with the Project Manager to review progress and discuss future steps in the current project(s); arrange meetings with other members of the secretariat including Communications, M & E, and finance officers; organize appropriate meeting venues, print out/disseminate approved agenda and refreshments, contact the attendees and note any who can’t attend. Before the meeting, send out relevant information, attend each project meeting to take project related notes and minutes.

  • Maintain documents: The Project Officer will maintain project documents tracking project progress; file all project documents in an appropriate database or library, and ensure that all documents are accurate and have been approved by the Project Manager or their designate.

  • Identify problems or risks: In consultation with the M&E support officer, the Project Officer will be relied upon to identify potential issues or risks likely to affect the progression of the project and communicate the same to the Project Manager and explore together, the potential solutions.

  • Manage project work plans: The Project Officer will monitor project work plan to meet deadlines for each project task; check regularly that every deadline is still possible, and report potential delays to the Project Manager.

  • Contribute to reporting and proposal development: The Project officer will participate in proposal writing, resource mobilisation and events planning for the network, in consultation with other team members.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • An analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Proven success in supporting designing, implementing and reporting, from project initiation to closeout stages.

  • Able
    to multi-task in a high volume, fast-pace work environment.

  • A team player with a high level of self-motivation and ability to set and meet goals.

  • Thorough familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet, and project scheduling computer applications.

  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, trouble-shoot, and to meet short- and long-term deadlines.

  • Demonstrated experience in budget and financial management.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent critical and creative thinking as well as analytical skills.

    Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Early childhood education and development, Food Nutrition and Dietetics, Sociology or other related social sciences. A Bachelor’s degree plus Project management related training is an added advantage.

  • At least three (3) year of experience implementing Childcare or parenting projects through County governments; and a project targeting 0-8 years in marginalised contexts.

  • At least four (4) years of experience in articulating needs and programming for children aged 0-8 years and their families.

  • Experience in Health Management Information Systems (HMIS)

  • Experience as a ToT on Science of ECD, CCD, PD Hearth/Nutrition and Health Systems Strengthening.
    Member of a local ECD consortium or network.

  • Experience managing effectively and professionally, teams of varied disciplines;

  • Relevant certifications.

  • Duration: The position is for an initial six months with a possibility of renewal at expiry.
