  • Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for new colleagues to join our Emergency, Protection, Assistance and Coordination Team, a multifunctional team of senior Emergency Response Specialists deployable within 72 hours to support DRC Country Offices respond to emergency situations.

    Overall purpose of the role:
  • The Economic Recovery Assisstant will support the Economic Recovery Team through direct implementation of field activities, including assistae in planning and delivering trainings and workshops, community meetings, distributions and site supervsison of disaster preparedness, vocational training, VSLA, agricultural and livestock activities in field sites in field locations.     Responsibilities and Tasks:

    Programme and Technical Oversight:
  • Assist with the assessment and registration of beneficiaries for project activities, as per pre-agreed crietria and using assessment/registration tools provided by the Programme Manager
  • Under the instruction of the Programme Manager, participate in data collection / data entry for assessments and evaluations.
  • Assist with engagement and liaison with local stakeholders including community committees and community leaders, and local government officials to coordinate activities and receive required approvals, as directed by the Team Leader
  • Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, support and assist in the planning of trainings and workshops, community meetings, distributions and infrastructure works, including preparing TORs and PRs, as directed by the Programme Manager
  • According to training plans and materials provided by the Programme Manager, assist on sites to deliver trainings, awareness sessions and other community mobilisation sessions and other community engagement activities
  • Assist on sites, as directed by the Programme Manager, to deliver distributions of cash and in-kind items to programme beneficiaries, according to DRC guidelines and procedures.
  • As required by the Programme Manager, engage with and assist in the delivery of relevant MEAL activities.


    Support Services:
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain and Finance team to ensure timely, compliant procurement and payment of vendors for required programme supplies.


    Experience and Technical Competencies:
  • Relevant university degree/Diploma in economics, agriculture, social sciences, community development and mobilization, civil engineering or another relevant field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in Livelihoods or Resillience programming in the region required.
  • Experience in implementing disaster risk reduction initiative, value chain analysis, value chain growth plans, livestock common interest groups, livestock management, community-based animal health initiatives, infrastructure rehabilitation and/or village savings and loan associations preferred.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary and inter-agency team.
  • Ability to travel and to work independently and in harsh environments.
  • Ability to manage a large workload and multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Highly organized, pro-active decision-making ability wit proven analytical and problem-solving abilities in community level.


    Education:
  • Relevant university degree/Diploma in economics, agriculture, social sciences, community development and mobilization, civil engineering or another relevant field.

    Languages:
  • Fluent in Somali
  • Excellent verbal and written English
  • Other local languages preferred

    Conditions:
  • Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council terms of employment for National staff.
  • Availability: October 2022
  • Duty station: Mandera / Garissa / Turkana.
