Purpose of the Role

The Surgeon will be responsible for the surgical and obstetric areas and will have a role of technical advisor to the hospital’s Medical Director.

Key Duties

Carry out clinical activities, with special reference to surgical and obstretic emergencies/urgencies

Contribute to on-the-job training activities and formal training

Collaborate with the Medical Director in the supervision and management of hospital staff

Ensure equipment and drugs availability taking into account the funds need and availability

Support the Medical Director in improving the information system quality, collaborating in hospital data collection and analysis

Support in strengthening the referral system and the ambulance service

Assist the Medical Director in organizing clinical services

Collaborate in promoting access to and use of hospital services, in particular with regard to obstetric emergencies

Requirements

Degree in Medicine and Surgery

Specialization in Surgery, with experience in surgery and obstetrics

Excellent knowledge of English

Previous professional experience at hospital level in fragile/low-resources settings

Previous experience in hospital management and coordination
