Job DescriptionOrganization backgroundDoctors with Africa CUAMM is an international NGOs, based in Italy, established in 1950 with the aim of supporting developing countries in their effort to build sustainable and accessible health systems.
The organization’s mission is to reduce the needless loss of lives in development and emergency contexts caused by lack of effective health care, and to contribute to improve health outcomes among the most vulnerable group of the population.
CUAMM, in collaboration with Oromia Regional Health Bureau and SWS ZHD, Wolisso and St. Luke Catholic Hospital Wolisso- Ethiopian Catholic Church-Social and Development Commission (ECCSDCO) and Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp. partneris going to implement the project "Innovative approaches on demand and supply side for maternal,
newborn and child care in a rural district of Ethiopia to reduce maternal mortality and health inequity"with the primary aimto increase the accessibility, quality and demand of reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health care services among communities living in the catchment area of St. Luke Wolisso Hospital, especially among pregnant women and adolescents, by making use of innovative supply-side and demand-side approaches.
Job summary:
Responsible for supporting the project manager in Planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Project activities and public health outreach activities at the health centers, health posts and community.
Responsible for health education and other public health activities implemented by Doctors with Africa – CUAMM inSWSZ at Zonal and District level.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Project activities.
Organization of public health training programs and planning continuing professional development of public health professionals.
Alignment and integration of the PH project activities with the regional health policy and Zonal objectives regarding health promotion in the community.
Organize quarterly review meetings at woreda level
Support and participate in supervision visit in each health facility
(180 visit)
Organize and supervise participatory meeting for women and adolescents in 29 Kebeles
Train the personnel on ward data management at Saint Luke
Preparing radio show in local language.
Support the development of educational material.
Support the project manager in organizing training on e-partograph,
Monitor the effectiveness of the introduction of E partograph at peripheral level
Any additional assignment, according to the position, given by the Project Manager or Country Manager
Type of Employment: 12 (twelve)months with possible extension- 45 days probation period
Reports to: Project Manager
Responsible to: CUAMM PROJECT MANAGER
Working hours: Monday to Friday 08:00am – 12:30pm 02:00pm -05:30pm
Job Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:
Diploma in nursing or midwifery with a minimum of 5 year experience. Trainings on BEMONC, IMNCI, Nutrition, EPI, Cervical cancer will be considered an asset.
Work experience in public health activities such as supervision or mentorship of health centres and health posts, community mobilization and awareness creation activities.
Working experience with NGO projects will be considered an asset.
Experience in data collection, data analysis, and use of indicators for project monitoring purpose.
Good knowledge of English and Oromiffa
Priority will be given to candidate with working experience in the areas of project’s interest.
