Diakonia Sweden Thematic Advisor Jobs in Kenya;The Programme Office based in Nairobi, Kenya will be responsible for programme management and coordination, thematic and technical support, financial management and compliance. The Programme Office will comprise of the Programme Coordinator, who will manage and coordinate the programme, take operational decisions, and consolidate reports;

A Thematic Advisor who will provide thematic and technical support to consortium members and grant recipients, and monitor implementation of the programme; A Finance & Compliance Officer who will manage finance, coordinate reporting and audits, and ensure compliance with financial policies and regulatory requirements.

Working alongside human rights actors, the Consortium is seeking a diverse team of persons with relevant experience to fill the three positions of; Programme Coordinator, Thematic Advisor, and Finance and Compliance Officer. Therole and minimum requirements of the Thematic Advisor are detailed below:

Thematic Advisor

Main role

The Thematic Advisor for SRHR and non-discrimination will collaborate with and support a diverse group of consortium members working towards democratic and inclusive African states and societies where human rights and inclusion in all spheres of public and private life are recognised, respected, and protected under law.

Reporting to the Programme Coordinator, the Thematic Advisor's role is to co-create and implement an agile and relevant programme with the consortium partners, through work plan development, facilitating knowledge exchange, joint monitoring of progress, support advocacy initiatives and undertake capacity building for grant recipients.

Qualifications and experience required

A university degree in a relevant field such as social science, political science, behaviour science, sexology, communications, or a related discipline.

5 years of proven experience working with human rights, SRHR and non-discrimination through a human rights-based approach.

Five (5) years’ experiences in training, capacity building, and facilitation of workshops.

Experience in

the civil society sector, including experience with participatory models and methodologies.

Familiarity with the challenges faced by civil society organizations advocating for sexual rights.
Experience working in regional programs and/or consortium set ups

Experience in advocacy and policy development, particularly related to human rights and SRHR.
Knowledge of human rights and SRHR issues in various parts of Africa

Established networks within the global human rights and SRHR sector.

Experience working with an intersectional feminist perspective in a development or human rights context.

Demonstrated ability to build collaborative partnerships and alliances for influencing government policies and programme delivery.

Strong commitment to participatory working methods, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse team.

Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and communicate effectively with stakeholders from diverse cultural and organizational contexts.

General Requirements for All Candidates

A right to work in Kenya either as a citizen or position of a residence and work permit.

Ability to travel regionally and internationally (have valid passport)
