In order for Uganda Breweries Ltd (UBL) to achieve its ambitious F20 growth plans across the world our markets will need to significantly transform their routes to target consumers (RtC) and overhaul all operations to make this a reality.
This is the single biggest hurdle that the business needs to overcome in order to achieve its goals and as such has been recognized as the #1 priority for the next few years in the company, and clearly articulated as a “Must Do” We have a wider reach than ever, particularly in emerging markets which now make up 42% of NSV.
In order to unlock the value that is currently available within the entire chain we need to transform our business from factory to shelf, both in the on and off premise.
A centrally driven RTC program has been initiated to create sustainable transformation that delivers quality, consistency, and rigor in execution.
Our ability to get our products into the right outlets and brilliantly execute our programs at the most efficient cost will, we believe, give UBL a competitive advantage.
Top Account-abilities
Implement initiatives to double coverage and callage across the outlet universe and deliver additional NSV according to plan
Implement trade terms for Distributors based on depletion
Step change distributor capability and commercial standards
Deploy minimum requirements for territory management by distributors to drive outlet coverage and distribution
Roll out the performance based 3rd party management to establish minimum operational standards among CDs and drive effective performance management
Work with the Sales and RTC teams to deliver a sustainable transformation that will create growth across the markets, regions and business as a whole
Provide guidance to the distributors on the
development and implementation improved calls, time in trade, route adherence and coverage to provide the most effective returns on investment. Works with the distributors to implement an effective suite of measures and capabilities which ensure that both efficiency and effectiveness.
Work with markets and 3rd party distributors to provide guidance on the implementation of implementation improved calls, time in trade, route adherence and coverage to provide the most effective returns on investment.
Implement and enforce Diageo standards among distributors in all areas.
Roll out the DMS automation system
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Commercial degree or its equivalent. Business qualification ideal.
7 - 10 years of cross functional experience, mostly commercial.
Route To Market experience
Exposure across different channels and different levels of customer sophistication (e.g. Distributor management and Field Sales)
Success in highly demanding sales organisations (FMCG) and in alcoholic beverages
Leadership of large teams operating in complex, multi-channeled settings
Senior Line management of large organisations, especially in field sales
Strong knowledge & demonstrated delivery in challenging trading environments; understanding of channel, pricing, negotiations and strategy development
Negotiation and conflict resolution with powerful Customers
