This position takes responsibility for the operational aspects within the Ubuntu Gateway, our Regional Hub for Africa based in Addis Ababa
Tasks included, but not limited to:
Engage with the Global DGF network to promote and help support the Addis Ubuntu Gateway
Coordinate day to day operations within the Airfreight Gateway
Assist & support Gateway Manager in rate & capacity procurement as required
Maximize profitability by reviewing supplier base, market trends, cost allocation & process improvements
Actively live & promote DGF values “Connecting People. Improving Lives.”
All of these must be achieved while working within the matrix management structure and in conjunction with regional and local management.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate the day-to day operations within the airfreight Gateway, supported by the Gateway Manager
Build relationships within the DGF network to promote the DGF Ubuntu Gateway in Addis Ababa
Act as primary contact & support network for inquiries related to the Airfreight Gateway
Act as primary contact for escalations related to Airfreight operational issues (supported by Gateway manager)
Actively drive & manage consolidation program
to optimize product profitability & growth
Contact airlines to procure and negotiate rates to support the DGF Global Network
Together with Gateway Manager, evaluate airlines operational performances to achieve operation excellence
React to market changes & environment by helping to redesign product offering
Ensure compliance with DGF policies, Industry & Country regulations at all times by all staff
Perform regular process reviews with the Gateway Manager to ensure compliance with company standards & processes
Job Requirements
Skills
Technical
Good knowledge of the airfreight market and local regulations & processes
Good knowledge of the end to end freight forwarding operations process
Strong knowledge of the English Language (Spoken and Written)
Business
Experience in Airfreight Industry (Freight Forwarding)
Strong background in procurement and operations
Operationally focused & result orientated with good negotiations skills
Be innovative & organized
Human Relations
Independent and has the ability to manage their own workload
Strong interpersonal skills and able to build respectful relationships with all levels of people
Good communication skills & encourage collaboration
