About the Position

In anticipation of USAID/West Africa’s Strengthening Regional Peace and Stability Program (SRPS), Dexis is looking for Gender and Social Inclusion (GESI) Advisor candidates to design and implement high-quality and timely SRPS’s gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) interventions. This five-year USAID funded project in West Africa will have a budget of $45-49.5 million.

The anticipated goal is to support the efforts of West Africans to address the risks of instability from democratic backsliding and from conflict, and prioritize targeted conflict and violence prevention, peacebuilding, and preventing and countering of violent extremism (P/CVE) interventions.

The GESI Advisor supports gender equity and social inclusion technical areas and designing grants and activities, working closely with country-based program staff to design activities, traveling regularly to target countries. The GESI Advisor contributes to internal strategy development and provides capacity development to counterparts. The GESI Advisor reports to the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP).

The availability of the position is contingent upon award to Dexis Consulting Group. Selection of final applicant is subject to USAID approval. Local candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide GESI technical guidance related to the project’s objectives to the CoP and senior leadership, and other key technical staff.

  • Support the COP to oversee the integration of GESI activities into the project work plan, MEL plan, and learning agenda, and review activities to be responsive to GESI issues identified during the GESI analysis.

  • Provide technical guidance across the various components of the project to ensure GESI integration in project interventions and trainings.

  • Work with the MEL/CLA Manager to develop, report, and monitor GESI-related indicators and disaggregate data appropriately to analyze results within each project component.

  • In collaboration with a headquarters-based Gender/GESI Specialist (if needed), mentor and train project staff, partners, and stakeholders, on GESI integration and mainstreaming issues, tools, policies, and practices as relate to project objectives.

  • Support technical project staff to ensure that training materials and participant engagement are gender- and social inclusion-sensitive.

  • Provide overarching GESI technical support to project stakeholders and implementing partners, including advising and supporting partners to integrate GESI considerations
    into activities.

  • Review and provide technical feedback on project deliverables to ensure quality, full compliance, and progress toward achieving GESI integration in the project.

  • Develop tools, frameworks, and resources to enable better GESI integration in the project.

  • Identify successful practices in the project that can be showcased in publications, communication materials, and conferences.

  • Prepare communications materials that highlight the project’s GESI programming, successes, and lessons learned.

    Qualifications

  • Nine years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or higher in the relevant subject area(s), preferably in gender, social work, education, international development, or community development required or seven (7) years of experience with a Master’s degree.

  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience designing, managing, and implementing activities to promote gender equality and social inclusion.

  • Strong understanding of how to address gender and social inclusion dynamics in conflict settings and how gender and social inclusion intersects with conflict sensitivity.

  • Experience ensuring GESI integration in project design, implementation and M&E required.

  • Experience developing and delivering GESI-themed content in training and education materials as well as GESI-focused assessments, training, and organizational capacity-building preferred.

  • Ability to navigate politically sensitive subjects and maintain constructive relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and transmit her/his vision to partners and colleagues.

  • Experience with previous donor projects required, USAID experience preferred.

  • Experience living and working in complex, conflict-affected environments, preferably in West Africa.

  • Professional level English and French required.

  • Ability to work under deadline pressure with diverse teams.

  • Ability to travel internationally frequently.

    Preferred Requirements:

  • Professional proficiency in West African local languages.
