About the Position

In anticipation of USAID/West Africa’s Strengthening Regional Peace and Stability Program (SRPS), Dexis is looking for Capacity Building (CB) Advisor candidates to design and implement a high-quality project capacity building strategy that promotes a culture of participatory learning. This five-year USAID funded project in West Africa will have a budget of $45-49.5 million.

The anticipated goal is to support the efforts of West Africans to address the risks of instability from democratic backsliding and from conflict and prioritize targeted conflict and violence prevention, peacebuilding, and preventing and countering violent extremism (P/CVE) interventions.

The CBA supports capacity building and designing grants and activities, working closely with country-based program staff to design activities, and traveling regularly to target countries. They will lead the development of SRPS’s tools, strategies, and processes.

The availability of the position is contingent upon the award to Dexis Consulting Group. Selection of the final applicant is subject to USAID approval. Local candidates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inputs into capacity development activities, including grants, recommending adaptations based
    on lessons learned.

  • Support the COP to oversee the integration of capacity building activities into the project work plan, MEL plan, and learning agenda, and adjust activities to be responsive to CB issues identified during the CB analysis.

  • Mentor and train project staff, partners, and stakeholders on a wide range of capacity building topics

  • Provide overarching CB technical support to project stakeholders and implementing partners, including advising and supporting partners to integrate CB considerations into activities.

  • Review and provide technical feedback on project deliverables to ensure quality, full compliance, and progress the project’s capacity building goals.

  • Develop tools, processes, and strategies to promote effective capacity building in the program.

  • Identify successful practices and learning that can be showcased in publications, communication materials, and conferences with USAID and the broader development community.

  • Ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion in capacity building.

    Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with seven (7) years of work experience or a Bachelor's with nine (9) years; degrees in in social sciences, business administration, organizational behavior, organizational development, human resources, change management, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience providing capacity development technical support to partners on large complex, donor-funded projects in fragile environments.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing training, curriculum, institutional development frameworks, and other training and facilitating related activities linked to identified skills gaps and performance improvement strategies.

  • Demonstrated experience delivering organizational development services to low and high-capacity organizations

  • Demonstrated experience developing organizational capacity in financial and grant management, grant writing, resource mobilization, advocacy, program management, USG compliance, and related topics.

  • Experience living and working in complex or conflict-affected environments, preferably in West Africa.

  • Ability to navigate politically sensitive subjects and maintain constructive relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.

  • Professional level English and French required.

  • Ability to work under deadline pressure with diverse teams.

  • Ability to travel internationally frequently.

    Preferred Requirements:

  • Professional proficiency in West African local languages.

  • Experience in USAID-funded capacity-building programming.
