National Risk Management Adviser – GIZ Djibouti

Background

GIZ promotes complex reforms and change processes.

In Djibouti, GIZ are looking to enhance and establish their Minimum-Security Standards. The advertised position “National Risk Management Adviser” will be under the direct supervision of the Senior Security Risk Management Advisor based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The National RMA will supervise and manage security risk management operations and innovations for the GIZ Djibouti operations in order to provide safety and security measures to ensure the safety of GIZ staff, property and operations.

For its Risk Management Office in Djibouti GIZ is looking for:

Responsibilities

Support general Security Risk Management (SRM) operations in Djibouti

Dealing with safety and security incidents where GIZ staff members require assistance.

Give security briefings to new staff

Advise staff and programs and provide information on corporate minimum-security standards, monitor compliance.

Support programs in mission planning in compliance with corporate SRM standards, give mission approval together with Risk Management Adviser (RMA

Conduct office and residence inspections and prepare recommendations for safety and security improvements.

Ensure all offices adhere to health and safety

standards as require by GIZ Corporate Unit.

Facilitate incident responses together with the Senior Security Risk Management Adviser (RMA) based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Organize trainings.

Liaise with other organizations and institutions.

Design incident database and maintain incident mapping.

Conduct security risk assessments and prepare risk profiles and risk mitigation measures for regional offices.

Help implement various safety and security related trainings.

Liaise with other organizations and local institutions, facilitate exchange network.

Job Requirements

Required qualifications, Competences and Experience

College or University Degree in relevant field or security studied plus Strong skills in political analysis.

A minimum of 5 years relevant occupational experience; expertise in the necessary field. Or equivalent combination of both.

Driving license – experience in driving different types of vehicles

Previous background in security, police or military is desirable.

Basic knowledge of Djibouti legal systems – traffic and criminal law especially.

IT skills and using Microsoft Office programs.

Knowledge of using maps and various mapping systems.

Knowledge of English and French is essential. Arabic is desirable.
