GIZ-SURED (Sustainable Use of Rehabilitated Land for Economic Development 2018–2020) will be focusing on the economic development and sustainable utilization of rehabilitated areas. Against this background, GIZ Ethiopia is looking to recruit an Technical Advisor for GIZ-SURED ISFM Project as specified:
Position: Technical Advisor

This position is seconded (60% of staff time) to the Soil Fertility Improvement Directorate (SFID) of the MoA.
Responsibilities Support the SFID Director in coordinating and overseeing the implementation of priority activities identified in the National Soil Fertility and Health Strategy, with emphasis on the reclamation of acid soils
Support the ISFM+ Deputy Project Manager in scaling up of proven technologies and the institutionalization of ISFM practices at regional and national level
Tasks
At SFID / MoA:
Contribute to the coordination and implementation of activities
aiming at the establishment of a commercial lime supply chain for the sustainable reclamation of acid soils
Contribute to scaling up of combined application of lime and ISFM practices, including CA, to ensure sustainable agriculture in acidic areas
Support the development of implementation plan for the National Soil Fertility and Health Strategy by involving public and private sector actors
Plan and organize multi-stakeholder workshops and meetings and ensure documentation of their outputs and action points
Lead and coordinate the preparation of reports, promotional and other documents, including key lessons and challenges
Closely interact and work with the ISFM+ project staff
Perform other assignments as required
At ISFM+ / GIZ:
Support the implementation of the upscaling and institutionalization strategy of ISFM+
Oversee and coordinate the project’s support to federal and regional acid soil reclamation activities
Contribute to the development of innovative implementation approaches and of new project ideas
Contribute to the project’s planning, M&E, human capacity development (training), reporting
Closely interact and work with the SFID / MoA
Perform other assignments as required
Job Requirements
Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
MSc in Agronomy, Soil Science, Agriculture or otherrelated field
Professional experience
At least 5 years professional experience (on similar position) in the areas of agronomy, soil fertility management, agricultural extension, climate smart agriculture or other relevant topics.
Experience of working on institutional linkages and collaborations with the Ministry of Agriculture and other institutions at national level is required
Other knowledge, additional competences
Excellent English language skills, both written and oral
Proven ability to produce high quality reports and documents
Excellent knowledge of standard computer applications, especially PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of GIS and Graphic design software is a strong plus
Excellent communication and presentation skills targeting different audiences
Experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under tight schedules
