Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH Consultancy - Protection of Vulnerable Child Migrants Jobs in Ethiopia
The objective of the Better Migration Management (BMM) program is to improve the migration management in the Eastern African region in response to the needs identified by the African countries of the Khartoum Process, and in particular to address the trafficking of human beings and the smuggling of migrants within and from the Horn of Africa.
One of the main goals of BMM’s protection component in Ethiopia is to have unaccompanied and/or separated minors (UASM) who are irregular migrants receive specialized protection according to identified needs and in accordance with international human rights standards pursuant to BMM’s Result 3.4.
This could be achieved through main result indicators on the program:
BMM through GIZ is now working on the establishment and operation of 1) non-residential drop-in centers to provide referral and support to vulnerable young migrants, particularly women (A 3.3.1.2) and 2) of child protection facilities to assist children on the move (A 3.4.2 - 3.4.7). These facilities will be established in migration hotspot regions in Ethiopia along key migration pathways where occurrences of smuggling and trafficking of vulnerable migrants are rife.
