DESA PLANTS PLC is a foreign investment company in the horticulture sector located in Ejersa, 9km from Modjo. Our main activities are production and export of high quality seedlings to the European and USA market.

Our company is growing fast and expanding its markets hence we are recruiting additional staff

Members and open vacancies in the position of:

General Manager

Duties and Responsibilities:

We look for a highly qualified and experienced Plant Breeding Manager who will plan and direct all Breeding activities within the breeding department.

The Plant Breeding Manager will have the following duties and responsibilities through own input and by coordinating his supporting staff .Other duties may be assigned.

Under the General Manager &breeding consultant , define the breeding strategy and develop a genetic improvement program to create new and original varieties in line with company, business objective and market needs.

Develop and maintain a well-planned breeding program that is balanced and provides commercial product for key markets.

Stay current with technology development in pertinent sciences and introduces innovation to breeding program where appropriate and monitor the position competitor’s product.

Develop awareness of market context, and aligns program direction strategic and

technical accordingly.

Coordinate the Implementation of programs through a network of breeding stations and screening sites, and leverage current research technologies.

Manage and Maximize the use of all resources allocated to the breeding programs; human, technical, budget /financial.

Strategically collaborate with key partners, internal and external.


Job Requirements

Profile Key Words:

Work Experience:

Preferable five or more years of relevant work experience in the position of plant breeding manager.

Work Place:

Based on the farm in Modjo-Ejersa.

Minimum Educational Qualification:

Minimum requirement is BSc Degree in Horticulture ,plant science with minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in the position of plant Breeding manager.

Skills:

Good computer skills.

Very fluent in Afaan Oromo, Amharic and English both written and verbal communication
