Job Description

Main Purpose of Job
Various personal tax and employment tax responsibilities, including, but not limited to the following:
Researching and preparing opinions/SARS letters/client deliverables/tax calculations by applying personal tax and employment tax laws and where relevant, using applicable Deloitte technology
Corresponding with the South African Revenue Service on clients’ tax affairs with guidance, advises clients on inbound and outbound expatriate taxation matters
Conduct client meetings, presentations and training sessions
Support the team in providing quality, robust and practical technical tax advice to clients and other stakeholders on all employment tax and personal tax matters
Support and contribute to the growth of the Global Employer Services practice by identifying opportunities and assisting in business development
Understand clients’ needs and offer excellent client service and solutions to meet these needs
Focus on the efficient management and delivery of client engagements/projects and will be responsible for delivering on a number of engagements/projects simultaneously
Assist with developing junior staff members and presentations at learning sessions
Collaborate effectively with all internal and external stakeholders for the benefit of clients and Deloitte
Identifies and embraces our purpose and values and puts these into practice in their professional life. Articulates how technology enables the business and communicates this effectively to clients while ensuring appropriate technologies and methodologies are used on projects
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
BCom BCom Law or
LLB
Desired Qualification:
Post-grad Tax qualification
BCom Hons in Taxation
Minimum Experience:
3-5 years’ experience as specialist in providing employment tax and personal tax advisory and compliance services in a client-facing role, preferably in a professional services environment.
Sound knowledge of the tax laws governing personal tax and employment tax matters as contained in the Income Tax Act No 58 of 1962, Tax Administration Act and other relevant sources (e.g. relevant case law, double taxation agreements, SARS Interpretation Notes etc.)
Good analytical and tax research skills with the ability to explore solutions to complex tax problems
Positive attitude and ability to contribute positively to the team culture is an advantage
Excellent report writing skills: Clear, accurate and concise in verbal and written communication
Good working knowledge of accounting principles and numeric aptitude
Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and adhere to deadlines is critical
Experience dealing with the South African Revenue Service would be advantageous
Additional Information
Technical Competencies
Sound knowledge of the tax laws governing personal tax and employment tax matters as contained in the Income Tax Act No 58 of 1962, Tax Administration Act and other relevant sources (e.g. relevant case law, double taxation agreements, SARS Interpretation Notes etc.)
Proficient in MS Office suite (specifically, MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
