Main Purpose of Job
Deloitte East Africa currently has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic person to join our FIST - Actuarial team as a Consultant.
The person will support actuarial advisory services to an array of clients in life insurance, general insurance and the wider fields such as banking.
The person will also support in project proposals and thought leadership initiatives for our clients. He/she will promote our leadership capabilities, which are living our purpose, influence, performance drive, strategic direction and talent development
Job Description
Support actuarial advisory services to an array of clients in life insurance, general insurance and the wider fields such as banking
Develop a thorough understanding of IFRS 17 and support implementation projects for our clients
Support project proposals and thought leadership initiatives
Shares expertise and knowledge with team members on an on-going basis
Qualifications
University Degree in Actuarial Science from a recognized university
Good progress with actuarial examinations
3 + years of experience in an actuarial role
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Aptitude for guiding teams in client assignments and driving deliverables that meet Deloitte quality standards
Open to local and international travel
Ability to adapt quickly to new learning concepts
Some exposure to IFRS 17 will be an added advantage
Well- developed computer user skills (VBA, R and/or Prophet will be an added advantage)
Key performance areas
Supports the Engagement Manager on delivery of designated engagement / project, managing the implementation of the agreed deliverables
Manages engagement budget through accurate budgeting, cost control and profitability management
Selects appropriate methods for collecting and analyzing large and complex data sets to extract insights and support solutions
Technical Competencies
Expert in field with excellent industry and business knowledge
Knowledge of accounting, auditing and regulatory professional standards
Demonstrated leadership skills
Excellent report writing skills
Good financial knowledge
Sound business acumen
Focus on quality and risk
Well-developed computer user skills.
