About the Department

The value that Deloitte Risk Advisory Africa creates for organisations is synonymous with operational excellence.

We maximize the performance of our clients’ internal business operations by identifying, predicting, resolving and mitigating imminent threats through our five key risk areas- strategic and reputation risk, regulatory risk, financial risk, operational risk and cyber risk.

These five business areas work in unison to provide integrated solutions unique to the organisational requirements of any business.

Deloitte (Uganda) Limited currently has an exciting opportunity for two (2) dynamic, innovative, dynamic, agile, driven, engaging and proactive individuals to join our Risk Advisory – Risk Services team as Consultants.

This position will be based in our Kampala office in Uganda.

Job Description

Main Purpose of the Job

The role provides an opportunity to work across a wide range of projects and industries to help tackle complex business problems faced by organizations today due to exposure in the following areas:

Accounting and Internal Controls;

Cyber and Strategic Risk Services;

Data Analytics

Regulatory and Legal Services.

What You Will Do

Ensure that fieldwork is conducted economically and per agreed client and Firm standards

Research on innovation and trends related to the business, industry and economy and use acquired information to enhance service offerings.

Manage own work against project plans to ensure a superior client experience.

Maintain quality of output and timeous delivery.

Apply Deloitte’s risk frameworks, tools, and processes to effectively map and organize client data.

Analyze client’s artifacts and data to accurately design current state business processes.

Design business processes.

Assess and design internal controls, leverage appropriate frameworks and enable technologies/ tools.

Support analysis and development of policies and procedures by researching relevant regulations.

Build knowledge and expertise in specialised area.

Support Deloitte’s Risk Advisory leaders in eminence-building activities and assist in the preparation of client presentations/discussion documentation.

Contribute to the regional and business areas winning business strategy and target.

Comply with auditing and accounting standards, relevant laws and regulations.

Coach and mentor junior members of the team.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Experience

A Bachelor’s Degree from recognized university;

Four (4) or more years’ professional

experience in external/internal audit, IT systems controls review, risk management or related field;

Recognized post-graduate qualifications such as Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA), Certified Public Accountants (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications;

Experience with a recognized professional services firm is an added advantage;

Willingness to travel

Be a Ugandan citizen or eligible to work in Uganda.

Budgets / Profitability - Manage engagement budget through accurate budgeting, cost control and profitability management.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation

Business Process Assessment and Design -

Ability to perform end-to-end business process analyses and design.

Internal Controls Assessment and Design -

Ability to assess and design internal control.

Data Analytics and Technology - Ability to gather, synthesize, and analyze data using appropriate tools and technologies.

Behavioural Competencies

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;

Effective interpersonal and relationship-building skills;

Good mentorship and coaching ability with desire to develop self and others;

Strong client delivery focus;
