Daystar University Director – Open - Distance and Electronic Learning Jobs in Kenya

Purpose of the Job:

The Director ODeL will be responsible for spearheading the utilization of alternative and flexible approaches to learning including the integration of ICT in the provision of Education through distance education, open, electronic and virtual learning

Requirements

A relevant PhD degree or its academic equivalent;

At least 5 years of management experience in higher education instructional technology
development;

Demonstrated hands-on experience in building online programmes, managing students on ODeL
and in building team processes;

Virtual Learning Management System (VLMS) administration experience, including user support;

Registration with the relevant professional body will be an advantage;

Christian commitment and practice.

Responsibilities

Formulating and implementing policies governing the ODeL platform and content development;

Formulating and implementing guidelines on learning material writing, tutorials etc;

Overseeing the development, design and management of Open Learning programmes;

Promoting multimedia technology, audio technology and print technology-based learning;

Coordinating student admission, registration and orientation in conjunction with the University
Registrar;

Providing back office technical support for students;

Supervising lecturers assigned to e-learning, planning and managing departmental budgets,
developing and implementing strategies in support of E-learning

Monitoring Open, Distance and Electronic learning programmes;

Liaising with various schools to schedule online courses and video conferences courses;

Evaluating new tools (internal and external) as they relate to

best pedagogical practices and
implications for faculty development.

Coordinating matters related to University examination in liaison to relevant schools or directorates;

Managing and implementing change initiatives to achieve desired university plans and culture;

Ensuring appropriate Christian behavior both internal and external in line with the institutions vision.
