Human Resource Director Job SummaryProvides overall strategic HR leadership; develops sound HR policies and procedures that are congruent with organizational strategic objectives, vision, and mission; ensures the HR strategy of the Company is implemented across both plants; provides strategic leadership to attract, motivate, retain and develop qualified people in the right positions needed so as to ensure that Dashen Breweries successfully achieves its objectives.
In partnership with other leadership team members, the HR Director is responsible for delivering the production volume, sales volume, and profitability of Dashen Breweries s.c.
Human Resource Director Job Duties and Responsibilities:StrategyDevelop and implement HR strategy in line with the company business plan. Ensure the HR strategy supports the needs of the business and is also flexible enough to cope with changes in the organization.
Culture and LeadershipResponsible to create a vibrant organizational culture and work environment
Responsible to conduct employee engagement surveys regularly and to take interventions based on identified gaps and agreed on action plans.
Facilitation of organizational transformation and change management
Assumes responsibility for constant and timely modifications as well as the renegotiation of the collective agreement as time goes by
Policy and procedure
Develop policies, rules, and procedures in accordance with Ethiopian labor law and implement when approved.
Define, implement and execute policies and procedures to ensure healthy employee relation practices and industrial peace.
Structure & System
Review, revise and compile organization structure, and job evaluation of all positions in Dashen on a regular basis based on job descriptions. Work out the job points for the positions in line with the job evaluation system.
Benchmark & implement HR best practices & social events to create a winning spirit culture.
Directs the short- and long-term staffing needs of the company
Conducts salary and benefits survey to ensure internal equity and competitiveness of Dashen Brewery salary in the labor market and sector;
Design, evaluate and modify benefits policies to ensure that programs are current, competitive, and in compliance with legal requirements.
Analyze compensation policies, government regulations, and prevailing wage rates to develop a competitive compensation plan.
Attract and retain the best talent
Participates in the interview and selection process for senior positions.
Provide support & monitor the probationary period of senior management.
Ensure all company policies and procedures are up-to-date and legally compliant.
Provide regular advice to the plant HR Managers on all human resource issues.
Learning and Development
Initiate & implement organizational & leadership development within the Company.
Ensures that Performance Management System is in place and all
staff has followed and implemented it as agreed.
Responsible for initiatives that will foster a high-performance culture, where valuing learning, continuous system improvement, talent management, and succession planning, and diversity are in place;
Deal with any performance or grievance issues in a legal & professional way.
Staff Management, Mentorship, and Development – Human Resources
Ensure appropriate staffing within Human Resources
Ensure that all HR staff understand and are able to perform their roles.
Manage the HR team; define expectations, provide leadership and technical support as needed, and evaluate direct reports regularly
Ensure the recruitment, training, and promotion of staff as appropriate and ensure the availability of appropriate professional development opportunities for staff
Incorporate staff development strategies and Performance Management Systems into team building process. Establish result based system and follow up
Manage the performance of all staff in Human Resources work area through:
Effective use of the Performance Management System including the establishment of clear, measurable objectives, ongoing feedback, periodic reviews, and fair and unbiased evaluations;
Coaching, mentoring, and other developmental opportunities;
Recognition and rewards for outstanding performance;
Documentation of performance that is less than satisfactory, with appropriate performance improvements/work plans
Budget
Prepares the annual HR budget of the company;
Job Requirements and Qualifications
MBA/MA in Business Administration, Human Resource & Organization Development, Public Administration, Management, or equivalent.
10 years of operational experience both generalist and specialist (Management). Should have at least six years of managerial experience in managing people in a team-oriented environment.
Experience in the full range of HR - HR services; legal service; employee relations; HR systems; staffing and talent management, learning and development, compensation and benefits administration, and organizational design. Should have a thorough knowledge of HR principles, strategic HR practices, and Ethiopian labor law. Ability to link HR policies and programs to the business vision & goals.
