Danish Refugee Council (DRC) Protection Officer Jobs Positions in Ethiopia
ResponsibilitiesImplement program in line with international standards and best practices for Children in Emergencies.
Plan, implement and monitor day-to-day child protection program activities.
Child Protection needs and vulnerability assessment and development of appropriate interventions;
Prioritize the most vulnerable children for service using vulnerability criteria.
Ensure provision of effective child protection services and case management
Individual case management and management of Child Protection Information Management Systems and ensure compliance with standards;
Identify children and youth with special needs and provide specialized assistance;
Collaborate with relevant partners to develop and maintain CP referral mechanisms;
Monitor trends and needs related to child protection in the target IDP sites and recommend activities improving DRC’s and other agencies’ prevention and response to protection concerns.
Contribute to the development of project proposals, concept notes & sector publications
Regularly monitor project activities and provide feedback for adjustment as needed.
With the support of other staff compile, analyse and share monthly data (disaggregated age/gender/ vulnerability) to inform programming.
Assisting in mid-term or end of project evaluations.
Ensure DRC’s accountability commitments are streamlined in all child protection activities.
Specifications
University degree in gender studies, social sciences, law, social work, international development, or other relevant field
from a recognized institution.
Minimum 2 years of experience in an entry to mid level position, with experience in the field of humanitarian response and refugee/IDP protection working for an international NGO, UN agency or relevant ministry or local authority.
Technical understanding of the specific concerns and needs of children and youth, prevention and response strategies to the specific risks and protection concerns facing children, including experience with operationalizing child protection principles and international standards in a humanitarian aid setting;
Proven record of providing trainings and workshops on children’s needs and concerns topics;
Hands-on experience with child protection case management is mandatory. Previous experience support community based protection structures is a strong advantage.
Experience working with displaced and/or conflict affected populations, such as refugees or IDP.
Strong planning, organization and problem solving skills with ability to work both independently and within a team in a demanding work environment.
Integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to consistently meet deadlines under pressure.
Experience of working in an emergency setting.
Strong inter personal skills and Staff management skills
Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
