Job DescriptionIntroductionThe Danish Refugee Council (DRC), an international non-governmental organization (NGO), has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997.
DRC promotes and supports solutions to the problems faced by refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and migrants. The organization has offices across the region, and has been operational in Ethiopia since 2009.
With funding from bilateral and multilateral donors, DRC is currently implementing a range of activities across Ethiopia and Djibouti, including WASH and shelter provision, child and youth protection, gender based violence response, awareness-raising of migration risks, protection monitoring of migration routes, and livelihoods support for returning migrants or those at-risk of migration.
Overall purpose of the role:Working under the direct management of the Protection Team Leader, The Protection Officer- Early Childhood Care and Development will be responsible in assisting the planning, management, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the Early Childhood Care and Development project in Okugu refugee camp
Responsibilities: Assist in providing training to Preschool teachers.
Ensure parents and community members engagement in preschool activities through bi monthly PTA meeting.
Support the preschool teachers in the preparation and implementation of learning activities for children, lesson plans and creation of pedagogical tools adapted to the profile and needs of project's beneficiaries.
Support the preschool teachers in the preparation, organization and implementation of parents meetings.
Develop and improve pedagogical tools and methodology of the incentive teachers
Establish and maintain effective network and partnership with refugee community leaders.
Establish and strengthen child protection committee (CPC) as well as child right club members (CRC) and support them on
bi monthly meeting to have protective environment around school.
Job Requirements
Experience and technical competencies:
Minimum 3 years of experience in an entry to mid to level position, preferably with experience in the NGO field.
1-2 years’ experience with Child Protection program in refugee and humanitarian context.
Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
Full proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Excellent verbal and written proficiency in Aywaa, Murle, Amharic and English.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, ECCD, Social Work and Sociology or other relevant field from a recognized institution.
Languages:
Excellent verbal and written proficiency in Amharic and English
