Danish Refugee Council NGO IT Coordinator Jobs in Ethiopia
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), an international non-governmental organization (NGO), has been providing relief and development services in the Horn of Africa since 1997.
DRC promotes and supports solutions to the problems faced by refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs), and migrants.
The organization has offices across the region, and has been operational in Ethiopia since 2009.
With funding from bilateral and multilateral donors, DRC is currently implementing a range of activities across Ethiopia and Djibouti, including WASH and shelter provision, child and youth protection, gender based violence response, awareness-raising of migration risks, protection monitoring of migration routes, and livelihoods support for returning migrants or those at-risk of migration.
The IT Coordinator will be responsible for the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of all IT technologies across DRC’s field offices in Ethiopia and Djibouti.
The Coordinator will focus on the efficient setup, maintenance and administration of all DRC hardware, software and local networks.
The IT Coordinator will, furthermore, ensure accessible and high quality IT support and training to all DRC Ethiopia and Djibouti users, and will continually assess and identify the most appropriate IT solutions to meet the organization’s changing needs.
Responsibilities
Technical Support
In collaboration with DRC’s regional office, develop and implement a clear standard operating procedure for the delivery of IT support services for DRC Ethiopia and Djibouti’s country office and field-based staff, including timely follow-up until resolution.
Act as the primary focal point for troubleshooting IT-related issues faced by DRC Ethiopia and Djibouti’s country office and field-based staff. This will entail the provision of both remote and on-site support.
Assess all existing hardware, software and local networks to ensure appropriateness, standardization and fitness for purpose. This entails monitoring support trends, proactive identification of solutions and development of relevant trainings to ensure all staff make best use of available IT technologies in line with the organization’s IT policies.
Manage IT service outages by ensuring timely notification and instructions to affected staff.
Oversee day-to-day technical relationships with internet services providers and any other technology providers.
Networking / Internet Support
Standardize and optimize local networks across all DRC Ethiopia and Djibouti offices, including the installation and management of hardware and software. Management of the networks system performance monitoring and tuning, as well as setting up and monitoring the restriction of non-business sites during work hours.
Oversee and monitoring software and network security, bandwidth (in accordance with the internet service provider’s contracted service), and bandwidth utilization.
Provide troubleshooting for connectivity or performance issues.
Security/Backup Administration
Ensure regular, centralized backups of all DRC Ethiopia and Djibouti users.
Ensure antivirus software is installed and up-to-date on all relevant IT devices.
Manage user accounts and permissions in accordance with DRC’s IT policies.
Standardization
Serve as the main focal point for ensuring IT products are standardized, for optimal utilization, across offices.
Ensure that all IT products purchased
are in line with DRC’s ERP requirements.
Server Operations and Administration
Manage and monitor all aspects of the design, installation, implementation, and monitoring of the Enterprise Directory Services (Active Directory) as well as firewalls, Domain Name Servers (DNS), DHCPs, and Mail relays.
Provide full range of technical assistance in the area of server operations, management, and administration, including the installation, configuration, testing and deployment of server hardware and software. This includes monitoring statistics on performance and reliability of server systems.
Operate all roles involved in the provisioning and de-provisioning of user accounts.
Software Assurance
Tests software and other computer applications to ensure they function properly and efficiently before issuing to users.
Ensure all Microsoft Office licenses are optimally utilized and under safe custody.
Ensures all genuine applications standards are being met and that all software used is legal and standardized.
Lead yearly software audits.
Reporting
Prepare a comprehensive monthly API report on IT devices and services across DRC’s Ethiopia and Djibouti offices.
Prepare and consolidate the monthly network/internet utilization report.
Process payments for SIM cards in Ethiopia Country Office according to communications policy and undertake analysis of communication bills and controls.
In collaboration with the Supply Chain Manager, submit monthly reports tracking IT devices.

Strong planning, organization and problem solving skills with ability to work hands-on, independently, and within team in a difficult work environment
Education/qualifications:
BS/BA in a relevant field, or with equivalent experience of 5+ years in a large-scale multi-site environment
Languages:
Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
