Overall responsibilities of the Job

Oversee DCA operations in the coordination area in general and maintain partnership relationships with stakeholders at the zone and district levels. The Area Programme Coordinator will provide technical assistance and guidance to DCA direct implementations and DCA-partner organizations implementing in the area and conduct periodic monitoring visits to project sites.

Purpose:

The Area Programme Coordinator regularly provide updates on the partnership/coordination meetings attended and on projects under implementation (DCA direct or partner-led)

Engagement

Participate in coordination meetings with other NGOs and GOs

Oversee all DCA and partner projects in the operational area ensuring timely and quality implementation.

Compile timely and high-quality project progress report on quarterly, bi-annual, and annual bases.

Prepare and submit monthly cash forecast and submit to finance department.

Review and approve financial document in line with the Authority delegation where applicable

Oversee the fulfillment of necessary logistics for offices engaged in the implementation process.

Coordinate the process of sharing project plans and reports to relevant government offices at zone and district levels when relevant

On behalf of DCA regularly participate on the coordination meetings organized by other actors in the zone

Maintain strong working relations with signatory offices at zone and district levels

Conduct joint-monitoring exercise with government offices and partners and track learnings, action points and post monitoring follow-ups.

Delivery

Provide technical and capacity building support to DCA field officers,DCA’s implementing partners and consortium member organizations in coordination area

Responsible for managing partnership with zonal and district level relevant offices

Responsible for maintaining partnership with stakeholder with zone and district level government offices and other development and humanitarian actors.

Oversee that all project activities implemented in accordance with the set objective

Required Qualifications / Experience:

MSC/First degree in a relevant discipline

(Development Studies, DRR Management, food security, Agriculture, and related field) from a recognized university.

6/8 years practical experience in MSC/BSC respectively at the field and country office level in designing development , humanitarian projects proposal and reporting writing capacity building and implementation of key donors Danida, EU, ECHO etc. specifically in agropastoral communities and areas .

Technical Training qualifications required: livelihood, food security ,agriculture , relief, disaster management, environmental sciences, and related field.

Experience working in low land areas of Oromia , or other agropastoral set up in Ethiopia is with international NGOs, UN agencies is mandatory.

Understanding of the Development and humanitarian system in Ethiopia.

Knowledge of humanitarian standards and principles and cross-cutting issues

Experience in management and knowledge of basic accounting methods and procedures

Ability to train and supervise a multi-cultural staff

Good cross-cultural Communication skills

Excellent communication, networking and persuasion skills, particularly good mentoring, and capacity-building experience.

An openness to learning about and understanding the culture, political, social, and economic situation of the country

Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation

Good public relations and public speaking skills

Knowledge of local language in the target location has an added value

Fluent in spoken and written English, proficient writing skills
