DanChurchAid (DCA) is seeking applications from eligible applicants for the post of MEAL Assistant to be based in Arua, West Nile, Uganda.


The Finance Officer will support the newly initiated project in West Nile region that aims to develop and manage disaster preparedness and response activities to reduce the impact of sudden epidemics, refugee influx or natural disasters and secure a quick and efficient local first response.

The project will support first responders such as Local and District Disaster Management Committees, local NGOs and other local resources in Arua and Lamwo which are the key areas of implementation.


Responsibilities


  • Responsible for budgeting, financial quality assurance and monitoring and reporting of expenditures of projects.
  • Ensures that monthly account reconciliations are timely prepared.
  • Provide monthly updates, with brief analysis, on project budgets.
  • Support the Programme Officers and Project Managers in developing budgets for proposals.
  • Assist in ensuring all office financial tasks (project and office budget/operations) are completed/ accurately managed in agreement with the line supervisor.
  • Ensure that the Financial Manual rules and guidelines are followed.
  • Participate in training and building capacity of staff and local implementing partners
    in basic DCA and donor accounting standards.
  • Keep updated on special donor financial requirements


    Requirements


  • Minimum of a degree in B’COM (Accounting) or BBA( Accounting) and preferably with a CPA/ACCA accreditation
  • 5 years of experience working in a similar role with an INGO
  • Proven capacity to prioritize tasks, plan and organize your own efforts to meet objectives and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and experience in working with a partner based approach.
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical skills
  • Experience of working in Humanitarian sector is added advantage
