The Volunteer’s RoleAccess to proper nutrition sources is essential to the health of all people in Ethiopia, but improving practices and services is not possible without research and planning!
The Growing Nutrition for Mothers and Children (GROW) project in Ethiopia is an initiative to address undernutrition in women of reproductive age and children under five years of age.
In Ethiopia, the project will be implemented in East and West Harar Administrative Zones of Oromia Regional State and in Gewane and Argoba Special Woredas of Afar Regional States.
As a Strategic Planning Officer you will work closely with Haramaya University College of Health and Medical Services.
You will give support to the Ethiopia GROW team through researching the effectiveness of GROW program outcomes and the outcomes of Social Analysis and Action (SAA).
Furthermore, you will advise team members about tools that will enable the sustainability of the project. Your role will be a key part of the project’s intermediate goal of improving proactive nutrition services for women and children in Ethiopia.

As a volunteer, you will:
Develop Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA) phase out strategy and compare CARE’s sustainability strategy with others
Design sustainability plan for demo gardens and develop sustainable input access mechanism
Suggest the roles of multi-sectors in sustaining activities started by GROW
Research outcomes of SAA in GROW programs and identify ways for incorporating other beneficiaries
Essential Academic Qualifications:
Master’s in International Development, MBA, Project Management
Essential Professional Background:
5 years of experience working in project design and sustainability.

Cuso International terms and conditions allow you to lead a modest and healthy lifestyle while being effective in your placement.
This support package will cover basic living expenses for one volunteer and is not intended to cover home-based expenses (ex. loans, support payments, etc.) or luxury items such as imported items in placement or international personal travel.
