Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:

Have at least 12(twelve) years’ experience in Industrial Development.

Have Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Chemistry, Statistics, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or in any other related field from a recognized Institution.

Have Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Chemistry, Statistics, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or in any other related field from a recognized University.

Have a certificate in Strategic Leadership Development Programme lasting not less than six (6) weeks.

Have a certificate in Computer applications.

Have knowledge of the County’s economic development needs, strategies, policies and objectives and the ability to translate them
into industrial development policies and programmes;

Business acumen to attract investors into the county;

Ability to attract public private partners into the county; and

Interest in development of youthful entrepreneurs.

Demonstrated merit and shown ability as reflected in work performance and results.

Duties and Responsibilities

Preparation of policies and

programmes for stimulation of domestic and foreign industrial investments.

Conducting feasibility studies on industrial development.

Planning, directing, coordinating, monitoring and implementation of the operations of the Department;

Implementation of the Industrial Registration Act (Cap. 118) of the Laws of Kenya,

Initiating, formulating, reviewing and implementation of policies, programmes and strategies relating to industrial development and investment promotion;

Coordination and direction of regional, bilateral and multilateral industrial support;

Initiating promotional programmes and activities; and

Overall supervision, training and development of Industrial Development staff.
