County Government of Mombasa Sterilization Technician (Certified Nurse) Jobs Opportunities
Main PurposeAccording to protocols applied in the corresponding service(s) or ward(s) of a medical structure, carry out sterilization of medical equipment, instrument and surfaces.
Responsibilities
Know and strictly apply all specific sterilization and hygiene protocols and security rules. Proactively seek for advice and clarifications from the functional supervisor in case of doubt about the specific protocol or procedure to follow in each specific case.
Maintain clean and disinfected the work environment allocated to his/her position apply-ing the specific protocols and using the tools and equipment provided:
Clean all instruments in the sterilization solution as directed.
Place instruments into the sterilizer / TBM and operate at the correct time as instructed.
Ensure a clean and safe working environment.
Maintain clean and organized the sterilization area/room and equipment
Recognize all instruments as per the provided diagrams
Organize all instruments for packaging
Pack the instruments according to the sets as directed by the supervisor
Label all sets correctly with the expiry date clearly indicated
Collect and evacuate waste produced and by medical structures to the designated site, previously sorted by medical staff, empty out dustbins as often as necessary to ensure an efficient quality of care and safe environment.
Report any repair or maintenance work needed related to sterilization to the supervisor, as well as any relevant information related to his/her responsibilities.
Ensure availability of sterilized instruments and material, and draw up orders for on-going needs.
Qualifications
Strict adherence to universal precautions
Full comprehension of infection prevention and control as it relates to the sterilization procedures and protocols
Responsible to report broken or faulty equipment to supervisor
Responsible to report discovery of improper disposal of sharps or other high risk material.
Academic and professional qualifications
Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya
Valid practicing license from Nursing Council of Kenya

County Government of Mombasa Clinical Officer (Anesthetist) Jobs Opportunities
Main Purpose
Organize and ensure medical consultations for patients and/or a target population providing treatment to patients within the scope of his/her medical competencies and referring patients with conditions falling beyond his competencies, in order to guarantee quality and efficiency of the service provided. This will be done in accordance to the context, validated protocols, procedures and the universal hygiene standards.
Responsibilities
Ensure the implementation and standardization of validated clinical policies, tools, and hygiene protocols in order to minimize clinical risks and to granting quality of patient case management.
Promote and maintain confidentiality regarding all patient cases and records
Implement diagnose, prescription and prevention procedures that fall under the scope of his/her competencies applying medical knowledge, asking appropriate questions to patients and following protocols in force as well as using laboratory services when necessary, in order to ensure a correct implementation of the medical treatments and to refer patients when appropriate.
Be reference person for pain management within the health facility and when applicable train other medical staff
Evaluate the risk of operating in collaboration with the Surgeon Doctor.
Carry-out all anaesthetics related activities during surgery, according to the procedures set before-hand by the doctor anaesthetist (if any); to collaborate in patient’s adequate anaesthetized state and safety during the process.
Prepare beforehand the drugs, material, and equipment required.
Monitor patients throughout the whole intervention.
Provide post-operative care, including immediate post-operative surveillance in the recovery room (ensuring patient’s recovery of consciousness and setting analgesic protocol)
MSF Context Specific Accountabilities
Participate in patient rounds on all post-operative patients – in recovery room and in the post op ward
Ensure accurate and complete individual OT data collection (line list or event data)
Responsible for following the routine maintenance/cleaning of all anaesthetics equipment under the guidance of the
biomedical technologist
Reports immediately any malfunctioning of equipment
Strictly adheres to Universal Precautions and participates with the OT team to ensure proper disposal of all sharps
Works in collaboration with the OT supervisor and the responsible Medical Activity Manager in ensuring quality and efficient care
Assists in the care and follow up of post-op patients in the recovery phase
Participates in any reviews of near miss or mortality
Qualifications
Academic and professional qualifications
Diploma in clinical medicine and surgery or clinical medicine and community health from a recognized institution;
Higher diploma in Anesthesia from a recognized institution.
Certificate of registration from the clinical officers’ council;
Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution
Desirable previous Anesthesia experience of at least one year,
Languages: Kiswahili and English
Desirable computer literacy

Main Purpose
Providing psychological support to patients according to MSF principles, standards and procedures in order to improve the patients’ mental health
Responsibilities
Carrying out evaluation of mental health needs of survivors of sexual violence and establishing a plan of treatment.
Implementing the Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying possible victims of SGBV and referring them to the medical team so that they receive the necessary treatment.
Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to survivors of sexual violence according to MSF protocols in order to improve their mental health conditions
Assisting and training staff members, sensitization of staff to the complexities and social taboos related to sexual violence
Collecting and registering individual data about mental health in SGBV register
Liaise with social worker for linking the survivor to rescue centre resources
Liaise with lay counsellor in adapting plan of care to ensure the best level of support according to survivor needs
Ensure that all patient information is kept confidential.
MSF Context Specific Accountabilities
Participate in reporting and analysis of collected data – reporting on trends and complexities related to stigma
Participates in community working groups and contributes experience and expertise as it relates to sexual violence prevention
Be familiar with all aspects of reporting as they pertain to confidentiality and legal proceedings – and to fully understand the boundaries of a psychologist and client/profession privileges
Be familiar with the Medico legal certificate offered to all survivor
Maintain patient files, in collaboration with the medical team, under lock and key
Report any concerning behavior of a family member/neighbour or friend that may be indicative of the person being a perpetrator
Be familiar with all medico legal aspects of sexual violence and relevant care including the forensic side of the specimen collection
Weekly review with the PMR, the SV response team including HP manager
Participate in professional supervision sessions as a part of the MSF provided staff health program – SPAM – stress prevention and management
Qualifications
Essential degree in Psychology
Relevant license to practice independently as a Psychologist
Essential 2 years’ experience minimum as a Psychologist with an interest in SRH and sexual violence
Previous experience with MSF
Languages English and Kiswahili
Desirable computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
