Our client is among the most renown country clubs in Kenya ,they are seeking to recruit a General Manager to join their team.

General Manager Job Description

The General Manager will be responsible for managing all the day-to-day operations of the Country Club consistent with the objectives, strategies and policies established by the Board of Directors to whom he/she shall report.
Specific emphasis and of primary
importance, is a continual improvement in member /guest satisfaction and experience as measured by member surveys. The General Manager will have full P & L responsibilities and must possess strong operational, financial and analytical skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversight of all Department Heads and their respective staffs: Food & Beverage, Golf Course Operations, Pro Shop, Fitness Center, Marketing & Administration.
2. Develop, maintain and administer a business plan supported with annual budgets and marketing plans
3. Responsible for financial guidance and reporting of all club operations in accordance with acceptable accounting procedures including the formulation of the club’s annual operating and capital budgets to be coordinated with the Finance Committee, the Controller and the
Department Heads. The General Manager will operate the club in accordance with approved budgets and will report the club’s financial position to the Board of Directors on a monthly basis.
4. Interact with members on a daily basis, actively soliciting member opinions and input on the club’s facilities and services to promote the club. Visibility and accessibility to members is paramount.
5. In coordination with Department Heads, set standards for recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and timely evaluation of the entire club’s staff.
6. Oversee and administer compensation and benefits to staff, which must be administered consistently and fall within the guidelines as mandated by the budget.
7. Emphasize, along with the Department Heads, “a member first” culture that ensures member patronage and maximizes the use of club facilities.
8. Set standards for all employees and actively promote a positive work environment where teamwork is emphasized.
9. Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Educational and Certificate Qualifications

Preferably, the General Manager would be a college graduate with a Business Administration or a Hospitality Management Degree with Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation and a participant and strong supporter of continuing professional development for self and staff.

Candidate Qualifications:

Excellent candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of General Management experience in a private member club.

Verifiable strengths in team development, financial performance and acumen and new member marketing… supported by the ability to consistently define and achieve goals and objectives.

A verifiable record of working closely and successfully with club board and committees in a leadership or supportive position as circumstances dictate.

A strong knowledge of and ability to deliver highest quality food and beverage, golf services, fitness, aquatics and family activities, creating exceptional member/guest experiences.
