Cost Accountant Job in Machakos, Kenya

An Agribusiness company based in Machakos that deals with processing and packaging of fruits and vegetables requires a Cost Accountant with the following qualifications:-

Bachelor’s degree ( Accounting or Finance or Economics or Equivalent)

Professional qualification (CPA(K) or ACCA) highly desired

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position

Experience working in engineering and manufacturing companies on development and analysis of cost accounting standards

Excellent verbal and written skills

Microsoft Office Suite with intermediate/advanced Excel skills

Ability to apply knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and Cost Accounting Standards

Ability to work effectively across multiple functions / departments

Duties and Responsibilities

The Cost Accountant will perform all aspects of operational finance requirements such as:-

Cost and Variance Analysis

Development of annual product standard costs

Analyzing inventories

Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories

Monitor compliance with IFRS and company procedures and proactively communicate identified accounting/financial and control issues to Accounting Manager and Directors

Complete assigned account reconciliations and related analysis on a monthly basis to identify potential discrepancies in account balances

Provide schedules, support, and analytics for year-end financial audit

Perform Analysis on assigned accounts to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes

Support implementation/updates of cost accounting systems

Support for process improvement projects

Any other duty as may be assigned from time to time
