Corporate Staffing Services Farm Supervisor Jobs in Kenya

Our client is an exporter of fresh produce located in Kampala, Uganda. Along with buying the local fruits & vegetables from out-growers for export the company is setting up two large commercial farms growing Hass avocados, Macadamia and a variety of short-term crops including herbs and other vegetables.

They seek to hire a proactive Farm Supervisor who will be responsible in assisting the Supply Chain Manager in establishing the farm operations and manage the farm produce in order to meet the overall production targets, international export quality requirement and objectives of the company.

Responsibilities

Overseeing of the Farm construction and maintenance of the infrastructure including staff housing, storage shed, etc

Managing the contractors and ensuring work is completed within the agreed timeline

Completion of farm establishment plan using the best agronomy practices

Land preparation, irrigation, fertilization, pest and disease management

Planting the Avocado and Macadamia orchards
Planting agreed short term crops

Coordinating daily production to achieve the most efficient cost of production while meeting the maximum yield and quality goals

Continually monitor and evaluate the efficiency of operations, equipment and work practices

Management and control of staff

Planning and implementation of a harvesting program to maximize returns

Setting up and ensuring compliance

with health and safety requirements

Ensure the company is in compliance with all governmental agencies and regulatory agencies

Pro-active and regular maintenance of all farm machinery

Any other additional duties as required by the management

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture or equivalent.

At least 3 years of hands-on experience in avocado production for export

Experience in growing other fruits & vegetables for export

Knowledge of agricultural cropping systems, pest and disease control, production practices and crop maintenance

Integrity and honesty are prerequisite

Proven leadership and management experience in a company environment

Knowledge of production equipment

Experience managing, coordinating and communicating daily with laborers

Computer literacy
