Job Title: Project Manager, Ethiopia
Location: Jigjiga or Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Reporting to: Horn of Africa Programme Manager
Duration: Fixed term contract until 31 March 2024 (with potential extension depending on funding)
Salary: ETB 2,527,200 gross annually + 11% employer pension contribution

Job PurposeThe Project Manager will lead the project management and coordination of an FCDO-funded consortium project in Ethiopia. The post holder will play a key role in liaising with FCDO and our partners in Ethiopia and will be responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning, partner support and narrative and financial reporting for the project.
Reporting to the Horn of Africa Programme Manager, the manager will work closely with our teams based in London and Jigjiga, and our partners and staff based in Jijiga, Addis Ababa and Nairobi, and will undertake occasional travel.
Person specificationEssential knowledge, skills and experienceStrong understanding of and experience in managing consortium projects preferably related to peacebuilding and conflict transformation projects, preferably in the Horn of Africa
Graduate study or equivalent by experience in conflict resolution, international relations, development studies, international humanitarian law, peace and security
Strong organisational and project management skills including planning, implementing and monitoring project activities, and strong financial and narrative donor reporting
Skills
Experience supporting financial management including experience preparing budgets, monitoring organisational and partner expenditure and
supporting financial reporting
Experience in working with a wide range of different partners and stakeholders in delivering projects jointly from inception to completion
Strong commitment to, and experience of, team and cross-organisational working
Appreciation of issues of confidentiality, and cross-cultural and political sensitivity
Experience of working in a multicultural environment
Initiative, proactiveness, enthusiasm and a problem-solving approach to new challenges
Willingness to work irregular hours occasionally and to undertake some international travel to areas affected by conflict
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and written and spoken Amharic and/or Somali
Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages, databases, email, internet
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience
Experience of working on FCDO grant agreements, including understanding complex
reporting requirements required in a complex multi-donor funded environment.
Hostile environment training, or willingness to undertake hostile environment training.
Living and working experience in Ethiopia.
