The Commission on Administrative Justice (Office of the Ombudsman) is a constitutional body established under Article 59 (4) of the Constitution and the Commission on Administrative Justice Act, 2011.

The mandate of the Commission is to enforce
administrative justice in the public sector, and overseeing and enforcing implementation of the Access to Information Act, 2016

Key Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities entail:

Investigate cases relating to the mandate of the Commission;

Carry out relevant research on issues that the Commission may deem fit from
time to time;

Monitor and evaluate the status of complaints resolution;

Identify systemic issues and recommend remedial measures and proactive action

Prepare periodic reports on the status of all the investigated cases;

Implement best practice policies, procedures and systems for research;

Provide necessary information to the Commission for purposes of vetting of persons where applicable.

Any other duty assigned by the Commission.

Competencies

For appointment to this position, a candidate must: -

Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, Forensic Investigations,

Law (LLB), Statistics
or Social Sciences from a recognized institution

At least 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar position.

Knowledge on data analysis and report writing skills will be an added advantage

Meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Kenya Constitution.
