Our client, CM ADVOCATES LLP is a premier legal and business advisory firm in Kenya and within the East Africa Community (EAC) providing its customers with a one-stop-shop for their legal and business advisory needs.

The Nairobi Head Office seeking to fill the following position:
Associate – Estate Planning (Trusts) & Family Business Advisory

Principal Accountabilities:

Estate planning advisory- wills, trusts;

Preparation of Wills;

Creation of Trusts – Preparation of trust deeds, petitions and undertaking registration at Ministry of Lands.

Preparation of tax exemption applications and statutory forms.

Structuring Family-Owned businesses including complex group holdings/ structures

Participate in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures and other share deals;

Corporate governance advisory with a focus on Family Owned businesses;

Drafting of a Shareholders’ agreement, family employment policies and other governance documentation ideal for for Family-Owned companies;

Transfer of family properties to a family holding company (for ease of administration and tax efficiency) or between associated companies;

Helping in establishment of a Family Office;

Registration of Family foundation or Charity;

Advise on equity incentives for family owners and non-family employees; and

Basic tax advisory on the foregoing aspects.

Qualifications, Experience, and knowledge:

Bachelor’s degree in Law;

Minimum of four (4) years post admission experience;

Knowledgeable in conveyancing and commercial law;

Excellent drafting skills;

Demonstrated experience in transactional lawyering; and

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Confident & pleasant personality is an added advantage.
