BackgroundIn 2007, CHAI signed an MOU with the government of Uganda to provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and strengthen health systems. Since then, CHAI has worked hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Health to increase access to lifesaving pediatric HIV treatment by >400%; coordinate with private sector suppliers to lower costs and expand access to malaria drugs; pilot a point-of-care diagnostic technology, leading to scale up to >250 health facilities nationwide; introduce a new severe malaria drug which will save thousands of lives annually; and many other initiatives.
Currently, CHAI Uganda works with the Ministry of Health around HIV, malaria, childhood illnesses, laboratory systems and drug logistics, vaccines, sexual, reproductive, maternal and newborn health and most recently cancer.
As part of the strategic re-organization to manage the growth of the Uganda country program, the program implementation efforts are being segmented into three program clusters: Sexual Reproductive, Maternal and Newborn Health (SRNH), Early Childhood Survival (ECS) and Infectious and Non-Communicable Diseases (INCD).
Purpose of the positionUnder supervision of the Program Manager, Infectious and Non-Communicable Diseases, the Senior Coordinator, Pediatric and Adolescent HIV will lead the coordination of a consortium of Implementing Partners with the aim of institutionalizing proven paediatric and adolescent HIV case finding approaches and strengthening linkage to and retention in care of children and adolescents living with HIV.
To this end, the Senior Coordinator, Pediatric and Adolescent HIV must be a strategic thinker with exceptional quantitative skills and experience in managing complex programs.
They will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, including convening and leading stakeholder meetings to review partner performance
and gain consensus on proposed recommendations, and the compilation of annual progress reports.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual with outstanding credentials and communication skills. The Senior Coordinator, Pediatric and Adolescent HIV must be able to function independently and flexibly and have a strong commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities Provide oversight for implementation of strategies to improve identification/diagnosis, linkage, treatment and retention in care of children and adolescents living with HIV
Lead the development of innovative strategies to address implementation barriers through convening co-creation workshops with the consortium partners
Provide oversight for the consistent implementation of the optimal package of high impact interventions through planning and coordinating the conduct of bi-annual Service Quality Assessments (SQAs)
Monitor consortium partner performance against set targets through the analysis of program and national HIV data and convening bi-annual performance review meetings to discuss progress against targets and share best practices
Closely liaise with the Ministry of Health to scale up and translate proven consortium best practices and optimal package interventions into operational guidance
Prepare technical reports for national and/or international presentation
Compile annual program performance and financial reports
Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
Competencies:
Guides subset of program development across related project areas
Advises on effectiveness of program, systems or procedures
Recommends initiatives and priorities within a defined program area
Flexible in achieving work objectives as necessary
Able to work independently with minimal oversight
Coordinates and establishes credibility with internal and department head level external stakeholders
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field/management plus at least 3 years’ work experience
Advanced proficiency in computer packages such as Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Excellent analytical (qualitative and quantitative) and communication (written and verbal) skills.
Practical project/program management experience
Advantages:
