Clinton Health Access Initiative Regional Associate, Malaria Case Management Job Vacancies in South Africa
Founded in 2002, by President William J. Clinton and Ira C. Magaziner, the Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (“CHAI”) is a global health organization committed to saving lives, reducing the burden of disease and strengthening integrated health systems in the developing world.
CHAI's global malaria program provides direct technical and operational support to countries around the globe to strengthen their malaria programs and reduce the burden of this preventable, treatable disease. We support governments to scale up effective interventions for prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and surveillance, with the goals of sustainably reducing the number of malaria-related illnesses and deaths worldwide in the short-term and accelerating progress towards malaria elimination in the long term.
Responsibilities:Develop and maintain strong understanding of the malaria diagnosis and treatment landscape within CHAI's focus region and identify the highest priority opportunities to improve the quality and coverage of malaria diagnostic and treatment services offered
Support gathering, analysing, presenting and mapping of coverage and quality of diagnostic and treatment indicators in each of CHAI's focus countries
Support government partners and CHAI country teams in executing strategies to achieve programmatic goals related to diagnosis and treatment, including:
Increasing availability and access to case management services
Developing materials for health care workers, including community health workers, to improve diagnosis utilization and adherence to national guidelines;
Exploring implementation of new diagnostic and treatment tools, as necessary.
Support government partners and CHAI country teams in the drafting and/or updating of national guidelines related to diagnosis and treatment and quality assurance and control for medicines and diagnostics
Engage with suppliers, distributors, and regional stakeholders to ensure timely, streamlined, and affordable delivery of case management commodities
Assist in the national forecasting and quantification of diagnosis and treatment commodities to support accurate procurement of all malaria-related health products
Qualifications
Bachelor or Master's degree plus relevant professional experience in a demanding, results-oriented environment
3-5 years of experience in a demanding private sector environment, such as strategy consulting, or health commodity market intelligence, or public sector advisory position
Strong quantitative skills, including fluency
in Excel
Ability to create compelling, logical presentations and reports, using MS PowerPoint and MS Word
Comfort and flexibility to work independently with a diverse set of counterparts
Will be able to travel frequently (~60% time) and extensively across sub-Saharan Africa, and to other trans-continental meetings

Clinton Health Access Initiative Market Manager, Supply Side Strategy Job Vacancies in South Africa
Responsibilities
Design and manage the implementation of the Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) supply strategy, across multiple CHAI focal countries
Support countries in the development and execution of strategic and implementation plans for adoption of innovative and transformative procurement practices
Provide support to CHAI country teams as needed in mobilizing partners in key countries and conducting country-level due diligence
Support the adoption of current and new NAT products and their integration into existing lab networks
Monitor supplier compliance with contracts, global and domestic funding for product purchase, and product uptake; present findings of analyses to a broad range of internal and external audiences
Support negotiations with suppliers and buyers to expedite time-to-market, reduce pricing, improve supply security, and catalyze innovation for new and existing products
Act as the focal point to manage the relationship between LST, GMT and CHAI country teams, including country team leadership
Assist Ministries of Health to develop an investment case based on technical performance of new technologies, demonstrated public health impact, and value for money analyses
Requirements
Master's Degree (MBA in particular) strongly preferred, or Bachelor's degree minimum with exceptional experience
A minimum of 5 years' professional work experience
Experience working in management consulting, business strategy groups, investment banks, or similar fast-paced results-oriented environments
Experience managing and developing demanding work plans and budgets
Ability to navigate government processes with multiple stakeholders
Technical proficiency with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to solve challenging problems without extensive structural or operational support
