The main purpose of the job is to efficiently and effectively oversee the operations of the retail claims section.

Responsibilities

  • Receive reports on new claims and ensure they are promptly registered and handled in accordance with our Customer Service Charter.
  • Ensure all claims are handled professionally within the terms and conditions of policies issued.
  • Initiate and actualize claims cost management measures within the Treating Customer Fairly (TCF) guidelines
  • Ensure settlement offers and payments are processed promptly in line with set targets.
  • Supervise staff in the Retail Claims section. This includes maintaining a high level of discipline in the section and appraising them.
  • Produce management reports
  • Deal with general correspondences
  • Continuous review of claims reserves to ensure they are adequate at all times
  • Maintain a high level of service to customers at all points of contact such as telephone calls, emails letters or personal visits
  • Prompt attention to complaints
  • Ensure compliance with SLAs by all stakeholders and initiate corrective
    action for any breach
  • Train staff
  • Conduct training for intermediaries as may be necessary for them to understand our Products
  • Be instrumental in implementing strategic objectives


    Requirements


  • Degree in Business Management, Accounting, Insurance or other related field
  • Professional qualification in Insurance (AIIK or ACII)
    MBA degree will be an added advantage
  • 7 years in claims management with 3 years in managerial role
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Leadership and value adding capability
  • Ability to work effectively independently
  • Good knowledge of all non-life classes of business
  • High integrity
