The Resettlement Support Center (CWS RSC Africa) operates a US refugee resettlement program in sub-Saharan Africa through a Cooperative Agreement with the Department of State/Bureau of Population, Refugees and Migration. CWS RSC Africa is responsible for the preparation of refugee case files for adjudication by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) officers, as well as the out-processing and cultural orientation of all approved cases. CWS RSC Africa is administered by the Church World Service Immigration Refugee Program (CWS/IRP) and is based in Nairobi, Kenya.


Church World Service NGO Caseworker Jobs in Kenya

Responsibilities

  • Assists in Adjudications Circuit Rides, which includes completing post-Adjudication review, updating decisions and fingerprints, and preparing and distributing decision letters.
  • Runs Quality Check reports to ensure complete and accurate files, as well as identifies and correct processing errors prior to USCIS adjudication.
  • Identifies and reviews cases pending Prescreening and USCIS interviews in preparation for scheduling, schedules the cases in WRAPS, generates reports for refugee/partner notification, ensures that the reports are centrally filed for easy retrieval, and updates WRAPS accordingly.
  • Prepares cases for CIS, including reviewing physical and WRAPS files and constituting physical files.
  • Works with other Operations departments as necessary to properly update the appropriate cases.
  • Assists as needed in preparing circuit rides.
  • Completes and updates all case files all database records.
  • Writes deferrals and info memos for referring agency action, as required.
  • Conducts file reviews in accordance with RSC and USCIS guidelines, paying close attention to detail.
  • Assists in various administrative tasks including but not limited to: research, locating files, data entry, and case analysis.
  • Analyses complex cases in consultation with Supervisors in accordance with established policies and procedures, while remaining open to supervisory direction.
  • Trains new staff as required and contributes to the development of Field Team training procedures and their implementation.
  • Contributes to the development and updating of standard operating procedures for the Field Team in coordination with Field Team Supervisors, Managers and Field Team Coordinator.
  • Performs additional duties and special assignments as needed to facilitate the efficient processing and operation of the United States Refugee Admissions Program in Sub-Saharan Africa.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Casework or previous resettlement experience is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written English language skills;
  • Second language an advantage; Somali, Tigrinya, French, Amharic, Kinyarwanda or Arabic preferred;
  • Demonstrated computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Meticulous attention to detail.

    Church World Service NGO Regional Emergency Response & Disaster Risk Reduction Program Coordinator Jobs in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Design, coordinate and monitor emergency response and disaster risk reduction programs and needs in affected communities throughout East Africa; use early warning information for adequate preparedness and mobilization of resources including pre-positioning of items as anticipated.
  • Ensure proposed recovery interventions reflect the benefiting communities’ felt needs and are effectively integrated into ongoing, development activities in project areas
  • Identify and explore new funding opportunities to expand ER & DRR program/project activities in the East Africa Region
  • Facilitate rapid appraisal of disaster and emergency situations and provide concise reporting and recommendations for CWS leadership.
  • Work closely with the RDP Director and Finance Coordinator to track expenses against approved project budget, and develop monthly and quarterly expense projections.
  • Develop resource and training materials on DRR and Resilient Livelihoods, as requested or required by local partners.
  • Prepare written end-of-project report that reflects accomplishments and lessons learned.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with all CWS Partners in the region.
  • Serve as the CWS Africa
    focal point for the Kenya ACT forum and assist the Regional Representative in managing and supporting the new ACT Alliance Regional Forum.
  • Participate in AACC and ecumenical meetings, consortiums, and working groups related to emergency and Disaster Risk Reduction planning and response as needed.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or four (4) year of experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Key areas of study include emergency management, disaster risk reduction, dryland studies, community development and international relations.
  • 10 years of paid work experience is required.
  • 5 years of direct supervisory experience is required.
  • 5 years’ Experience in Emergency Response and Disaster Risk Reduction project implementation is required.
  • Proposal development skills is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of humanitarian charters and codes of conduct in emergency situations.
  • Proven ability to successfully work with ecumenical partners.
  • Knowledge/experience working with and/or managing public donor funds including USAID, OFDA, DFID, EU and UN advantageous.

    Church World Service NGO Data Integrity Manager Jobs in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Serves as RPC focal point for all WRAPS Release Notes, requests for information and the Helpdesk.
  • Ensures departmental compliance to all relevant requirements found in the PRM Program Integrity guidelines and the Cooperative Agreement.
  • Directly supervises the Data Integrity Supervisor and the File Library Supervisor, and manages their daily workloads.
  • Works closely with Reports Analysts to develop reports which monitor staff efficiency and data entry accuracy for overall quality control and improvement.
  • Oversees all standard and ad hoc reports generated by DIU staff and monitors for accuracy, precision, and timely distribution.
  • Works closely with WRAPS Trainer and RSC Africa program management to develop regular needs assessments as well as training programs and materials for staff to ensure staff members are fully trained in WRAPS functions.
  • Oversees an Annual Process Review of each departmental unit in RSC Africa programs divisions, which contains a full review of the unit’s reporting tools, SOP adherence, & file security procedures.
  • Works closely with the RSC IT Team to ensure WRAPS data security.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled meetings with Operations management in regard to report development, training needs, and WRAPS functionality.
  • Travels to the field to assess field team training needs and conduct on-site training as necessary.

    Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or four (4) year of paid work experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • Degree in Management Information Systems or Information Systems, Statistics or a related field is preferred
  • 8 years of related experience is required.
  • 3 years of direct supervisory experience is required.
  • High level of proficiency operating, maintaining and troubleshooting database software tools is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in database management, data analysis, quality control is preferred.
