CHS VMMC Surgeon Jobs in Kenya

CHS is currently sourcing for a high calibre, self-motivated and dynamic individual to fill the position of VMMC Surgeon: 12/CHS/VMMC/2018 in Siaya.

Assisted by his/her Assistant Surgeon, participates in the provision of safe male medical circumcision services as part of a team working in a health facility or VMMC mobile or outreach setup.

Key Responsibilities

Provide quality and safe male circumcision services to clients in the fixed, outreach and mobile sites and facilities

Provide STI screening and treatment for clients attending male circumcision services presenting with STI

Monitor the health process of the clients and ensure that the national standards are strictly adhered to by the team

Screen patients and ensure that they are fit for surgery

Document and manage circumcision-related adverse events accordingly and promptly notifies the in-charge and Program Officer

Ensure patient safety is guaranteed before surgery, during surgery and immediately after surgery

Work with the facility in-charge to promote the integration of VMMC services in the facility and ensure that male circumcision service provision runs smoothly

Review all circumcised clients on the seventh day and conduct active follow-up for all clients failing to come back for review

Engage facility healthcare workers in male circumcision services to ensure their participation and skills development

Efficiently manage consumables and drugs stock cards and equipment inventory while ensuring timely orders for supplies re-stocking

Ensure that all VMMC protocols and checklists are available at the site and strictly adhered to

Ensure timely

and proper documentation of client files and registers accordingly

As the surgical team lead, ensures teamwork, discipline and operation schedules are maintained within the team and across facilities

Keep information about clients in strict confidence

Ensure participation in CMEs and documentation of the same

Any other official duty as assigned by the supervisor

Required Competencies, Skills and Experience

Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Nursing

Registered by relevant registration council

Trained and certified as VMMC Surgeon

At least three (3) years’ experience providing continuous Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision services
